49ers. Out : QB Trent Dilfer (concussion), CB Shawntae Spencer (quad), CB Marcus Hudson (knee).

The 49ers have two cornerbacks out. How does that hurt their team, I asked David.

Spencer is the bigger loss as he would be our 3rd corner in the nickel and cover Chris Henry much of the game.  With Spencer and Hudson out, Donald Strickland will see a lot of playing time.  His biggest play this season was breaking up an endzone pass with 5 seconds left in regulation against the Cardinals in Week 12 that kept the Cardinals from taking a late lead.  He's got some talent, but considering the lack of significance to this game, I'm hoping the 49ers unleash rookie corner Tarell Brown.  He had some character issues that dropped him to the 49ers in the 5th round.  He's not going to be a shut down corner out of the gate, but I'd love to see what he can do against some great receivers like CJ, Housh and Henry.  All in all, it doesn't help matters, but Spencer always has the injury bug and would very well possibly get injured during the game anyways....

Our coaches blow.
Seriously, they didn't watch the 1st half at all. We played man defense everytime and we got killed all half long. That's just another reason why we suck.

Yuck
Coaches blow, players look like they don't care, defence can't stop the short to medium plays...

NFL Network sucks.  These announcers blow.  I'd like to see more replays rather than a bunch of huddles and commentators spouting off.

Coaching!
Pathetic performance on defense.

I believe it's just like the announcers said.  Other teams pretty well know what plays Cincy is going to run based on who's in the game.

Cincy had fired up SF and they are ready to put them away.  SF is strutting around like they acan beat Cincy and are wanting to manhandle Cincy.

It's awful
They just dropped the snap and we still gave 7 yards on the play.
I really feel that Marvin Lewis HAS to go. He can't get guys motivated, he has no idea what's happening out there, he takes too long to make adjustments. He was a good D coordinator, but Im not sure he has what it takes to be a Head Coach.

The Game!!!
I Agree!  Of course there are injuries and other problems but the coach has to go and there are many examples of why.

Palmer taking a knee to end the half.  I can't tell you how many times that I seen this and I still makes me sick.  What better way can there be to tell a team that you glamor boy and are just in the game for the stats.

I mean get real, a team just scored on you and then kicked off to you and you know that they get the ball first in the second half.  Sure, take a knee so you can go to halftime.

Can there be a better way to say that these guys make too much money?  If you are making all of these millions of dollars when do you decide that you can't run another play?

Once again..
Palmer can't find Chad, we don't score a TD in the red zone, Palmer can't complete a crucial play. Horrible.

This game!
The only way that Cincy can win this game is to knock SF on it's A.. right now.

I think that players on Cincy are making too much money right now and that had to be corrected in the offseason.

Johnson..
just showed he doesn't care. It's embarassing to lose to this niners team. And yes, Carson should go off the field cursing Chad, unfortunately he didn't.

Wow
The D just reached a new level. Words can't describe what I just saw. I thought they were bad, but that's beyond bad. Did anybody really think that they were gonna throw it? Just amazing.

Worst
we got owned by a 3rd string QB from the WORST offensive team in the league. Good job Marvin and co.

punchless & prideless
listened to the game on WLW and you could tell from the tone of Lapham & comp. that they are as disgusted with this team of underacheivers as any of us fans. the lack of professional aptitude from the players and the coaching staff really starts at the top. Lewis has got to go! Cower anyone?

by sao402 on Dec 15, 2007 11:29 PM EST   0 recs

Agreed.
While I'd love to have Cower on our team, it just seems like a longshot. A change has to be made nevertheless, I mean, my dog can coach better than those guys we have

by Brasilian Bengal on Dec 15, 2007 11:43 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

additionally..
Agreed. Cower is a Longshot (1 in a zillion) but what this team AND franchise needs is a coaching staff (and ownership as well) that will tolerate nothing less than winning..and that done professionally and with no excuses! And once again that starts at the top. The very top. Jimmy Johnson anyone? Maybe the Bengal nation can volunteer our dog's services. And may the best pooch win!  Woof! Woof!

Final Comments
What is there to say other than what has already been said about this team.

I don't think that we could be angry at CJ for the dropped pass in the end zone late in the game.  I figure that it is remarkable that he pulled it in as it was considering the situation.  This was a 4th and 3 play and why didn't they simply go for a first down rather than try to go for it all?  Who calls that kind of a play on 4th down?

In this game it almost certainly looks like Cincy was playing for a draft choice rather than playing for a win.

My thoughts on playing for the draft choice is...
if there is anytime that the Bengals put less than the best players on the field or anytime that lass than the best play is called they are cheating the public.  I know that it's purely entertainment amd entertainment is not subject to fraud but the premise is that they are getting paid to win games not to lose games.  From what I saw I think that Cincy went into this game figuring that they were going to lose it.

now that the bungles are back ( How I hate that word ) the blackouts will not be far behind
