Shayne Graham inactive
Doesn’t appear that Graham will be able to kick with his leg injury. He’s listed as inactive today.
This is the first time that Graham has missed a game as a Cincinnati Bengal.
Dave Rayner will take over kickoff, FG and PAT duties.

John Thornton also inactive
Thornton being out, gives Pat Sims his first chances at snaps on defense this season. Orien Harris is starting for Thornton.

but maybe completely changing things with no palmer and a new DT is what we need to get it done.
Benson will need to have a huge game and try to show Jones that he’s the better back

That's my hope too.
Fitzpatrick realizes the problems he created last time (Browns) by trying way too damned hard to make something happen.
And I’m VERY curious to see how Sims does. I’m not expecting much though; he’s still young and Lewis, at this point, still hasn’t been given enough confidence to throw him in there — otherwise he wouldn’t have waited for Thornton’s injury.
But I’m with you. Interesting to see how this team does changing things up — though through injury.

Third keys
Granted, these are important in every game. But with Fitzpatrick at QB, the team needs to focus on having Fitzpatrick manage the game, rather than trying to win the game.
1) Convert third downs.
2) No turnovers
3) Not allowing big plays defense

Hobson on Rayner
Rayner hasn’t exactly been a long-range dialer on field goals during stints with San Diego, Green Bay, Kansas City, and Indianapolis. He’s 13-for-19 from both 30-39 yards and 40-49 yards and 1-for-5 from 50 and beyond. He’s missed only one of 15 field-goal tries from inside 30 and missed one of 46 extra-point tries.
The blocks could be a problem. Three of his attempts have been blocked and he’s had virtually no time with long snapper Brad St. Louis and holder Kyle Larson.

Jets defense.
They’re 31st against the pass, and 5th against the run.
However, against the pass, that 265 yards-per-game allowed against the pass was inflated after Kurt Warner threw for 472 yards — in the other three games, the Jets haven’t given up more than their current average allowed.
Same thing could be applied with their impressive 75 yards per game allowed rushing. The Cardinals were down 34-0 at half time and rushing was out of the picture in the second half — thus (backwards) inflating their averages.
They’ve allowed 100 yards rushing in two games, win over the Patriots, loss to the Chargers.

First and Ten (CIN 22)
Favre, with Double TE, and single back, hits Coles on a quick hit to he left. Entire Bengals defense runs to their right while Coles reverses field to the other side. Thank god Keith Rivers stayed home, only allowed two yard gain — could have been worse.

Second and Eight
Favre hands off (draw) to Washington. Fanane had Washington in the backfield — surely a 3-4 yard loss. Peko shed off his block and dropped Washington for no gain — good play by Peko.

Third and Eight
Favre in shotgun, trips to the left. Favre looks left, then throws over the middle to Coles. Pass was perfect, but David Jones made contact with Coles when the ball hit his hands forcing the incomplete. For sure, that was a touchdown.

The Jets, when they run up the middle, block our Defensive tackles too easily — except for that one play that Fanene and Peko made a play.
