Open Thread II: Eagles (3), Bengals (10)
Defensively, the Bengals are playing one of their best efforts of the season, with three forced turnovers in the first half that led to all 10 points (FG, TD). Offensively, the Bengals are moving the ball through the air when running an up-tempo offense. However, pass protection has still been a concern, watching Levi Jones get pulled and several sacks that stalled drives.
Fitzpatrick: 14/21, 141 yards, touchdown
Benson: 10 rushes for 14 yards, three receptions for 20 yards
Houshmandzadeh: six receptions, 91 yards, touchdown
Chad: three receptions, 23 yards
Chatman: one reception, 11 yards
Perry: one reception, -4 yards (LOL)
Geathers: sack and forced fumble
White: Leads the squad with four tackles
Interceptions: Brandon Johnson, Johnathan Joseph
McNabb: 11/23, 142 yards, two interceptions
Westbrook: 12 yards total (six yards rushing, six yards receiving)
Jackson: three receptions, 54 yards
TEAM
First downs: Bengals 11, Eagles 5
Third Downs: Bengals (1/7), Eagles (2/7)
Net Yards: Bengals 134, Eagles 138
Rushing: Bengals 13, Eagles 5

Bengals defense
Limited to the Eagles to only five yards rushing.
However, they’ve only run the ball five times against 23 pass attempts.

Yea.
I figure that will be true every game we’ll be winning (or win) for the rest of the season. To hell with them. :)

Three plays
The defense allowed three plays of 10 yards or more.
The 44-yard Buckhalter reception was a combination of two things. The Bengals blitzed away from the called screen pass and a missed tackle by Marvin White.
The 25-yard reception by DeSean Jackson and the 18-yard reception by Avant.

Houshmandzadeh
Clearly the player of the first half with six receptions for 91 yards receiving and a TD. How many of those six receptions were turned to first downs?

If Westbrook would have followed his blockers.
He could have had a good chunk of yardage. Blockers had the defenders covered. Instead he bounced outside to the right.

Double tight end formations
We need to stop those. When we run those formation, the defenses stack up and the Bengals nearly always run out of that formation.

Benson has never considered himself a power runner.
Siragusa is right, but Benson thinks he’s a cut back runner in the NFL.

I can’t imagine a long scoring drive to win. I’d rather take my chances getting another INT
We need to lose this coin toss.
Otherwise, if we win, our offense gets the ball and the Eagles will have good field position.
