Marvin Lewis nominated for coach of the week
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has been nominated for coach of the week after a 21-19 beating over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Also nominated are Giants' head coach Tom Coughlin and Steelers' head coach, Mike Tomlin.
MARVIN LEWIS led the Cincinnati Bengals to their first victory of the year in a 21 – 19 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bengals offense totaled 312 yards and controlled the ball for more than 30 minutes. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns and RB Cedric Benson added 104 rushing yards and one touchdown. The Bengals defense sacked Jacksonville QB David Garrard three times and intercepted him once. Bengals CB Jonathan Joseph knocked away a potential game-tying two-point conversion pass attempt to secure the win.
TOM COUGHLIN and the New York Giants beat the division rival Dallas Cowboys 35 – 14. The Giants offense controlled the ball for more than 34 minutes and gained a total 319 yards, while the Giants defense limited the Cowboys to only 183 total yards. Giants QB Eli Manning threw three touchdowns to three different receivers and RBs Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward each added one touchdown on the ground. The Giants defense forced four turnovers and sacked the Cowboys QBs four times including 2.5 coming from DE Justin Tuck.
MIKE TOMLIN led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 23 - 6 win over the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field on Monday Night Football. After falling 0 - 2 to NFC East teams this season, Tomlin developed a game plan that delivered a victory. Tomlin used both starting QB Ben Roethlisberger and backup QB Byron Leftwich, who combined to lead an offense that controlled the clock for more than 30 minutes and put up points in each of the final three quarters. The Steelers defense forced two interceptions, totaled seven sacks, and limited Redskins RB Clinton Portis to only 51 rushing yards. Pittsburgh’s defense shut out the Redskins in the final three quarters.
Votes will take place from Tuesday until noon on Friday. Go here to vote for Lewis.

A guy who finally wins his first in nine tries isn’t suddenly a great coach, just a blind pig who’s eventually gonna root out that truffle. Coughlin should have annihilated the circling the toilet bowl Cowboys. Which leaves Tomlin, who made a pretty good ’Skins team look horrible and won with a less than stellar backup in Leftwich. Much as it pains me, Tomlin in a landslide.
