A quick David Pollack update.

There is no update. A decision nears though on whether he should return to football or not. Returning, most likely in a defensive end capacity, would give the Bengals one hellva rotation at defensive end. From Antwan Odom to Robert Geathers to one of the most celebrated defensive ends in SEC history.

But with each day that passes, you get the impression, even though reports are that he's medically cleared, that he'll hang them up for more spiritual purposes.

It is a great story

A Pollack comeback would make a great story--but we are talking about life and death here and I just can't imagine him coming back and being able to contribute in a manner that he would find desirable--and risking his life doing it.

The old Pollack

While I almost salivate at the idea of Pollack in Georgia form terrorizing opponents' backfields, I really don't want him to end up another Darryl Stingley(sp?). Plus, there's no guarantee his bulking up to play D-End coupled with his long absence from the game, wouldn't leave him merely average? Here's hoping he opts for the coaching or broadcast profession and lives out an ambulatory life.
