85 is my hero!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?template=with-video&id=09000d5d807f7f6b

Look, I'm not crazy about the way he has handled his business. But, I feel like he is starting to really shed some light on the whole situation. In this story, he's echoing Carson. What have I said all along? Mike Brown is the problem. We all know that.

I'm not on Chad's side, but, I agree with him on this. Chad has never said he wants more money. He justs wants out of Cincy. I want him to stay. But, he's right as long as the Browns are running things, the Bengals will never step up. For example, take the draft. The Bengals have all these extra picks, have they done anything with them?

We needed a DT, the entire world knew the Saints were going to trade up to get Ellis. What did the Bengals do? Let the Saints have him. I'm not saying they didn't try. But, why are other teams able to get the things the Bengals can't do, done? Shaun Rogers, Dwayne Robertson...

As a Bengals fan, I feel so helpless... kinda like Chad.

The problem is...

He’s keeping the focus on himself, not the problems with the team. His argument is counter-productive, Oil Slick is too much involved for people to look at the front office before Chad himself and even his cousin says that it’s about money.

While his point about the front office might be true, he’s not encouraging that discussion because the topic is only about him. And that’s why others won’t see it that way.

You're right...

I don’t think he’s going about it the right way. This article makes his best case yet. That proves the Rosenhaus is doing an awful PR job. He should be controlling everything Chad says. But, if the focus isn’t on Chad, then he’s just whining about the front office and it wouldn’t accomplish anything. The Browns will never change their ways, none of them. Who knows what has been done in the past behind closed doors by Chad. He may feel like all options are exhausted. And I haven’t seen what his cousin said. (Are you talking about Keyshawn? I didn’t think they were actually cousins.)

Look, I don’t like what he is doing, or the way he’s doing it. But, Takeo, Dillon, Pickens, and now Chad. I can’t believe people that have such incredible business sense can’t realize what’s happening.

RE: 100% agree

But as long as it’s Chad, playing the role of Corey Dillon and Carl Pickens, people will first think that he’s another cry-baby player or, less insulting, a “malcontent”. And that’s an unfortunate side-story in this whole thing.

Now if someone like Willie Anderson or Carson Palmer did the same thing, two guys heavily respected by the city and the league, then perhaps the focus would be on the team itself. Furthremore, it isn’t helping Chad’s case that no one in the locker room is defending him—like they’d do for the two mentioned above.

I am glad you brought this up though. I think there’s fuel for it. Provided it’s not Chad sparking it, I think it could go somewhere.

Trouble is, we’ve all known that Mike Brown and his extended family knew exactly jackshit about running a football team. We’ve known it for, what, 17 years now. It doesn’t take Chad to show us the error of their ways, we can see it by their hesitance- or miserliness, when it comes to going after a player like Ellis that really could have filled a gaping hole in our defense or even the decision making that has us reaching for a receiver we could have picked up a round later and bypassing the next best thing to Ellis- Laws, Sims, etc.. Add to that decisions of the past and the recent idiotic refusal to take a great deal for the malcontent Johnson.

We really need some kind of public referendum on the Browns’ stewardship of this team. Maybe we could work out a municipality-owned franchise ala Green Bay. Goddamn. This is supposed to be the most hopeful part of the pre-season.
