Expecting...

A good game by Rudi Johnson. This could be his final appearance as a Cincinnati Bengals player, or it could propel him as the team’s starting feature back.

Nice points

- Corey Lynch starting. The kid deserves the shot, and playing time.

- Chris Henry returning among a group of banged up WRs. T.J. Houshmandzadeh may get some PT also.

Looking forward to this game. Hopefully it’ll provide us with some optimism before the regular season kicks off. The last game against New Orleans surely didn’t.

Oh, and I hope to find some place to watch the game…

Two runs

no yards.

Three and out by the colts

On the first run (no yards), JJ made a good stop at the LOS. On the second, Keith Rivers did a good job slowing up the RB in the backfield while JJ finished him off. The Colts ran off the right edge on both runs.

On the third play, Gray attempted passs to WR and it was a bit low. Incomplete.

Second play, Perry run

Perry, up the middle. Offensive line unable to get to the second level.

Fitzpatrick drops back, GOOD PROTECTION, decides to take off and run. He side stepped the first tackler and fell over for the first down.

Yeah, you’re probably right. And since no other team has signed him yet the Bengals are probably right when they haven’t either. He was just nasty a couple of years back though.

Bentley is supposedly asking for a lot of money

Whereas most teams want to give him a minimum deal based on incentives — worrying about his knee. Seems fair to me.

Four WR set, Fiz, drops back and unleashes a full body throw to Chatman over the middle (it was a square-in route by Chatman), and gains 14 yards. But still short of the first.

In my mind:

2006=3.8 YPC
2007=2.9 YPC

You’ve got NO room to whine and complain, dude. If you stopped dancing in the backfield and running into your blockers, no one would be trying to get rid of you.

brooks has looked extremely motivated

kinda like I thought Rudi would tonight. Also, Henderson has looked impressive in his first action- fast, aggressive, like Brooks. Our LBs, in general, look promising, maybe even enough to make up for any D-Line deficiencies. And we haven’t even seen Odom yet.

Yea...

And that’s been the point I’ve been trying to stress this entire preseason. While we’ve looked awful, there are scenarios in which this team could actually be pretty good. Though, like most of you, I’m tired as hell about potential.

Antoine Burton

ran 20 yards trailing a play and passed out from exertion

...and James Johnson

Would be a practice squad candidate. I believe. But this team does things I don’t expect all the time.

except that

Munoz completely missed Busing deflecting the ball coming across, wonders why David Jones missed the pick.

Purify

buried a defensive end on a blocking assignment. Nice.

glass half full

We’ve finished the pre-season without any major injuries to potential starters. That’s really the primary goal in my opinion.
85 and Pat Sims not with standing

Tonight the Bengals had a different mentality

Granted, the Colts had lesser talent than we did — where we had most of our starters, the Colts had few. But the Bengals defense had a fast feel to them. They were running to the ball and all that.

I feel a little better

a little more optimistic. Kinda like taking an aspirin for an amputation. Better than nothing. I think Rudi is gone, Simpson, Holt, Shirley, Henderson, and Brooks make the squad, Sims and Caldwell to PUP. Linebackers are solid, secondary could be the pick of the litter defensively. Odom, an improved Peko, Geathers back in his wheelhouse, Brooks and henderson to augment the edges and the D-Line should be fine, especially if Sims returns and Shirley continues to improve- and gets his legal crap dealt with. Thornton and Myers and either Fanene or Rucker stick. Hebert makes it, Jones/Castille is a crapshoot that I’d probably give to Castille. Urrutia and maybe Logan to the practice squad. Hmm.

Night.

Back from actually working.

Sounds like it was a pretty good showing tonight. Can’t wait to watch it when I go home. :)

You are correct, sir.

With the more Houdini-like, gigantic-headed action figure that is Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm glossing over the Herculean warts of the offensive line, we, indeed, can! Trade Carson to the Chiefs(Chieves?) for Glenn Dorsey! Take that New Orleans Saints! Up with people!

My scrambled Soylent Green is getting cold!
