Six Teams Showing Interest in Willie Anderson
There's a possibility that Willie Anderson could keep his home in the AFC North. Instead of Cincinnati (obviously), he could become the newest Baltimore Raven. On Tuesday Anderson will visit with the Ravens in Baltimore after speaking with general manager Ozzie Newsome, writes Mark Curnutte.
Chargers head coach Norv Turner has been in contact with Anderson. The Bears, Buccaneers, Rams and Giants have shown interest.

Chargers, Giants?
They aren’t really a team with line concerns, same with the Chargers. But the others don’t shock me at all.

Why is it?
Other teams seem to pick up the diamonds in the rough that help them to win games? The Bengals never seem to do that. Patriots grab O’Neal, Lions grab Rudi, Ravens might take Anderson. The Patriots are masters at finding deals on the waiver wire.
I hope there is a plan behind the roster construction. I hope they weren’t banking on a surprise waiver wire CB sitting out there.

I said Anderson would be a Raven as soon as I got the news.
Their O-line is HIT this year.

yeah, but
Willie’s no spring chicken and certainly no Jonathan Ogden. Seriously, I hope he gets to play out a season or two, even if it is with the Winged Rats of Poetown. The Chargers would allow him to see what blocking for a real running back is like, the Bears would let him see what protecting a nonentity was like, and Tampa would allow him to make some age-appropriate friends, like Jeff Garcia.
As to Deltha in N.E., we should have grabbed Fernando Bryant when they released him.
If NFL teams were our Grandmas, the Patriots would be the one showing up on “Antiques Roadshow” every so often with a battered but recognizable Gustav Stickley table.

vet money
if deltha was our starting cb this year we would all be worried, but it sounds like he may start for new england. arguably he’ll have a better season for them than he would for us. (i don’t think we could have made the playoffs with troy brown as a db). but before we go saying we should have kept them because they got picked up somewhere else, we should concider that their new homes are probably paying them much less that the bengals would have this year. i can’t imagine detroit gave rudi 3+ mill to be a back up. likewise, if deltha was on the waiver wire from another team and we could have got him for 1 millionish, we would have tried to get him. it will be interesting to see the numbers tho.

pats
i’m also a long time pats fan with most of family being from boston. at this point they have such a great situation that when they want a player they pretty much always get them. (tho i think they wanted zak thomas when he left miami) so when it comes to grabbing past prime talent and getting a few more years out of it, i don’t think there is anyone better at signing the players they want and then getting them to preform. corey dillon and moss would probably be the best examples of that.

Deltha O'Neal
Is actually not a bad player. He’s still talented, has a nose for the ball, etc… the problem has never been his talent. It’s been his dedication and mental make up. At one point in 2006, one beat writer even questioned if his heart was even in the game anymore.
