Keep The Faith
Several days after Cincy lost in what I thought would end up being that one game the Bengals win that you don't expect every year I am reminded to keep the faith. The town is starting to shit on the best QB to ever don the stripes and everyone is pissing on the coach who brought them back from the depths of NFL depravity. I admit Marvin is horrible in the press conferences and doesn't realize that he needs to be more salesman like Brian Kelly of UC. Kelly gets it that he is selling a product. Lewis knows the games are sold out and doesn't give a shit if asses warm the seats or not. With that said Marvin is a good coach. You don't get to be head coach or D coordinator ,or assistant to the assistant ball boy for that matter, in the NFL if you don't know what you are doing. He is .500 lifetime in a .500 league and he has 13 more opportunities (maybe) to improve on that mark. So as an eternal optimist I will tell you how I will get to say I told you so at the end of the year and get to keep my title as a Bengals fan. I will keep the faith. While you are bellyaching about not going for it on 4th down in NY and hurricane Ike's impact on the Ten game I am looking forward and I see wins. So here is my game by game prediction.
Browns at home. We hear "I don't wanna work, I just wanna play on my drums all day..." all day at PBS while the Bengals O gets untracked. Bengals 31-10. Record 1-3
Cowboys in Dallas. While I am tempted to call this that one game the Bengals win that you don't expect, I'll refrain. Boys are the best in the biz. Cowboys 28-17. Record 1-4.
Jets in NY. Favre throws 3 picks and the Bengals win 24-17. Record 2-4.
Pitt at home. Cincy wins one against Pitt this year, might as well be at home. Bengals D gets 4 sacks and the hometown celebrates 27-21 victory. Record 3-4
Texans at Houston. Bengals dominate 35-14. Record 4-4
Jacksonville at home. Iffy game, injuries to Jags backfield and momentum helps Bengals to win tight one, 17-10. Record 5-4.
Eagles at home. The streak is snapped. Bengals give up 5 sacks, lose big 35-10. 5-5 record.
Steelers at Pitt. Hangover from Philly, Steelers get healthy beat bengals 21-20. 5-6.
Bal at home. Redemption song, 24-7 Bengals. Record 6-6.
At Indy. This may be that win, but I hesitate. Indy wins. Record 6-7.
Washington at home. Bengals 21-10. 7-7.
At Cle. Bengals sweep the Browns. 8-7.
KC at home. Bengals 31-17. Final record, 9-7.
Baltimore finishes 8-8: @ pit w, ten l, @ ind l, @ mia w, oak w, @ cle w, @ hou w, @nyg l, phi l, @ cin l, was w, pit l, @ dal l, jac l
Pittsburgh finishes 8-8: bal l, @ jac l, @ cin l, nyg l, @ was w, ind l, sd w, cin w, @ ne w, dal l, @ bal w, @ ten l, cle w
It could happen. Keep the faith...

Keep the Faith?
First off Carl…I’d think you’d hold dear to your heart one of your own teammates from the 80’s as a better quarterback than CarsonP. …no? Did you forget you played with Kenny and Boomer?
There’s a reason why everyone nationally (and locally) are sh-tting all over Carson. He deserves it!! He had one great season. That’s it. He was borderline mediocre in ‘06 (at best) and he was attrocious last year. Lay blame and excuses everywhere all you want. All you will do is sound like every other Bengal fan that the entire world laughs at. I don’t want to hear about last week either. Close is only good in…what is it? Horse shoes and hand grenades?
Your optimism is cheap. Frankly I feel that it’s the likes of your optimism that keeps Mike Brown laughing at us all.
Geez Carl…I really liked watching you maul people in the 80’s but I had no idea you were as blindly in love with this franchise as you are. I’d think you’d be a little more upset about the way things have been ran since you left 15-20 years ago.
You keep clamoring for a 9-7 season and act like the Bengals will win 9 of their next 13 playing against the NFC East and AFC South.
I’ll be at home wiping my @SS with my season tickets that I’m not going to use for the rest of the season and laughing at how guys like you are a part of the problem.
STOP SUPPORTING THIS BULLS-IT!!! …the pain and suffering will not end until you do!!

PSLs?
Thanks for the tip, but I’ll spend my money the way I want. When your wiping your ass with your tickets, I’ll be spread out at the game (in the seats you so graciously paid for), drunk and watching Ws rain out of the sky. The problem isn’t optimists like me, it is pessimists like you. The glass is half full in my world and the glass is half empty in yours and you are looking for someone to blame for that. I have news for you…it is not my fault, it isn’t Carson’s and it isn’t Mike Brown’s fault that you have pain and suffering. It is yours. Maybe if you change how you look at the world you’ll find that life isn’t so bad and neither are the Bengals. Look on the bright side Chappy, even if they suck I’d much rather live in an NFL town with an energetic game day atmosphere than live in Dayton, L’ville or Columbus. If you are so pissed about it I’ll take your PSLs off your hands for you. Deal?

Just what I was thinking.
Your predictions look pretty good. Most of them are in line with mine. You got the Jags winning but I thought the Bengals might lost that one. But like you, there’s hopefully a game in there that we’ll win but supposed to lose. Could be the Jags.
The way I see it, we’ll be golden if we beat the steelers once and either the colts or the jags. Those four games are tough. (It goes without saying that the eagles and cowboys will also be tough, but I’m not that hopeful).
Also, is it ok if I say it’s Mike Brown’s fault that JCT and the rest of us have pain and suffering? Cause I kind of think it’s true.
Plus, from a guy born and raised in Dayton, where’s the love? Haha.

Crazy Carl Spackler
You keep waiting for those “W’s to to rain out of the sky.” I also appreciate your tip on how to view the world. Unfortunately being a Bengals fan doesn’t apply with real world notions. As far as faults go….yeah, I think it’s fair to lay blame on Mike Brown and that entire organization. News flash for you…Carson Palmer (the so called Best QB to ever play here) is to blame too. In a quarterback driven league he sure is driving the team to where they are right now, isn’t he?
You are right…I used to live in Columbus and living in a town with major league sports is a blessing. Unfortunately, we live in the most MISERABLE Major League sports town in America!! (What could be worse?? …maybe Kansas City??) So apologies…maybe blaming you directly was a bit harsh…but I think you see my point, “Chappy.” Thanks for he “Life” advice though.

Nice wish list
What is up with the Gals? Come on guys, the Ravens at least trip up at the end of games not running out of the tunnel. Maybe time for the solid orange BENGALS helmets. That zebra stripped dome with PBS’s jungle stadium surround looks like a trip to Billy Bobs Small Rodent ZOO in Mortonbuilding, Ohio. The Browns?…THE BROWNS?! You have got to be kidding me. I would have given up my over priced Raven’s season tickets to witness all the pathetic stripped zombies snaking out of PBS after the game. I mean..where do you go after the game. That’s it, right? Do you go back to your 1975 van campers with tear drop windows and wait for the next loss. Do you pass the time by trading Chris Sabo and John Tudor cards? Man, if I’m going to buy re-hab properties I need to know the culture.
