Today's STARTING lineup -- and active roster
The inactives, not including the three already listed as out on the injury report, are Corey Lynch, Frank Davis and Jason Shirley.
The reason the Bengals de-activated Lynch is because the Bengals wanted to be bigger up front. Not sure about Shirley.
Frostee Rucker will start ahead of Antwan Odom.

by A Pragmatic Bengals Fan on Sep 7, 2008 11:44 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hell I don't know...
He’s just not that good, IMHO. But you’re probably right. They want to ease Odom’s playing time. I’d like to know why Shirley is inactive today.
With Sims and Shirley out, the Bengals will only have three active defensive tackles; Thornton, Peko and the new guy Orien Harris.
I’m sure Fanene, maybe even Rucker, might rotate in at DT, but that doesn’t seem really beneficial to me.

Odem will probably get more snaps anyway, unless he’s not as 100% as he says. And if we keep talking about shirley, I’m going to have to go out and buy AIRPLANE.

Sadly, that's the product of college football
With writers not really watching games, just checking out the raw stats of box scores and the score board, then voting, a bigger differential helps teams improve their spot in the rankings.

Anybody see the ESPN Outside the Lines report this morning on Jerry Jones?
The media finally criticized the Cowboys for their long history of “unsavory” signings. They even carted out Emmitt Smith (with his beard nicely dyed by Just for Men) to defend his former organization while Troy Aikman said the signing of Pacman Jones was an embarrassment. Of course, ESPN could not get through a report on criminality in the NFL without mentioning the Cincinnati Bengals (ignoring the recent spate of arrests by the Chargers and Jaguars organizations).
For a moment I thought ESPN was doing some real journalism…

First and Ten BAL43 with 1:04 left in the half
Palmer drops back, and forced to throw immediately with two unblocked Ravens blitzers on his ass, like right now. Palmer just throws the ball away.

Palmer, with plenty of protection (aka, Ravens not blitzing), hits T.J. for 13 yards.

Second and Ten BAL30
After spiking the ball, Palmer dumps the ball to Watson, for about three yards. Palmer was being pulled down — more mad pressure — when he fired and completed the pass.

Third and Seven, BAL27 :35
Bengals are 1/7 on third downs.
Palmer, after play action, hits Utecht running a route at the LOS (why in the hell do you run that ROUTE?!!!), picking up only two yards.
Bengals forced to FG attempt.

And why do you run play action on third and seven, with :35 left? What, we're going to fool the Ravens?

Why run a play short of the first down?
That is a Pop Warner football type call. Pathetic.

For sure...
But, the Ravens are taking a lot of risk with their blitzs… hopefully we adjust and get to burn them a few times… we just gotta settle down and play our game.

im getting worked in fantasy too because of this bs, utecht is supposed to be scoring, i dont know why they dont work more out of the shotgun with a two tight end set if we are getting blitzed so much

Frustrating
Not only is the team frustrating but I can’t even see the game here in Hattiesburg, MS. Can’t find it online and not a single bar around town is showing it. Not even BW3’s. I called them and asked if they were showing “all the games” and they said yes. When I got there the Bengals game was the only game they WEREN’T showing. So frustrated right now.
