Odom out for season w/severe Achilles injury
First off, I never want anyone to get injured. Ever. So save it.
But regrettably, this seems to be the beginning of what always happens to the Bengals.
From the way it sounds, and how it looked, Odom was done before the official word came out. So my question would be, do you guys feel confident with Johnson and Rucker on the right side going forward?
A sincere "get well and get back soon" to Odom, and a sincere "welcome back to Earth, Cincinnati."

Rumored aron kampman trade
Idk if anyone knows but there was a rumored Aron kampman for Anthony Collins trade..I believe w/ odom hurt we have to pull the trigger on that trade

i'd love to.
it would make a ton of sense. kampman makes $3.9 mil this year and will be a FA after the season. i would trade collins for him straight up but i don’t think that’s going to happen…

Collins is playing awesome and the guy we have behind him is an unproven rookie with a broken foot and a weight problem. I’d like to keep Carson upright for now.

but you would be trading a back-up O-lineman for a starting D-end

Two words for you
O (wait for it)

Let’s keep Carson healthy shall we?

and we don’t know that Andre is better than Collins or if he can stay healthy. So who’s to say that Collins shouldn’t be our starting RT the rest of the year over Moobs Smith?
Plus, let’s plan for the future and be ready for any injury that could happen for the O-Line. I think we can get some production out of MJ and Fanene on the D-Line, so let’s not panic yet.

Collins is expendable
He’s actually playing backup to Roland at this point.

You actually got me there, I didn’t realize they had made that switch. We don’t get many Bengals games out here in Minnesota.

to me
i would much rather have a pro bowl DE than an unproven 4th rd draft pick. collins has the potential to be quite good, but our best defensive lineman went down for the season yesterday and i think kampman could pick right back up where he left off. collins didn’t even start yesterday, so that tells me he’s not exactly in the plans.

but Kampman isnt fitting in their 3-4 defense
and they really need a OT

Kampman
I am a fan of Collins but would rather have Kampman. I would prefer we add more pressure from the D-Line, but Collins is a solid project on the offensive line and had he not left college early he would have been a 1st round pick.
In the future though, the Bengals could move Collins to left tackle, move whitworth back to left guard (where he is practically a pro-bowler) and let Andre settle into the right tackle spot.
Also, Roland and Collins seem to be splitting time. I wouldn’t call Roland the flat-out right tackle AND Roland did give up the only sack of the game (Conor Barwin flat out beat him). Plus Roland has only been playing right tackle because the Bengals were satisfied with his production as the tight end in the jumbo package. I would not be satisfied with him as the starting Right Tackle, especially because Collins has done nothing to warrant his time on the bench.
BUT Kampman would be a GREAT addition off the edge and I’m dying for the team to dial up a relentless blitz every 2 or 3 plays.

When we watched the game...
And saw him go down the way he did, we knew his season was over. Every time a player collapses like that without being touched, it’s bad news.

Michael Johnson
Michael Johnson is going to be an elite pass rusher in 1 year. He already gets to the ball on a very high % of pass rushes, and has batted several balls down.
Fanene has 3 sacks in limited time already IIRC

i think fanene can be a nice fill-in, and johnson has great potential
but if there is a remote possibility of green bay trading kampman, we should be all over that. it’s practically perfect timing…

Kampman trade
There was an article last week,I believe on the Fox web, with the heading “10 Trades that make sense.” One was the Kampman-Collins trade. So it isn’t going to happen. The Bengals rarely make player trades.I don’t think they have made a player swap during the season, since the early 70s when they sent Robinson and Willis to the Oilers for Joiner and Prichard.More than likely they will get a replacement off the street ( Langston Moore,Ed Johnson, etc. or pluck somebody off a taxi squad. Wouldn’t surprise me if they sign Harrington. He was one of their last cuts.He knows the system. He saw some action near the end of last year.If Peko is out for a while, Moore would make sense.Johnson was starting for the Colts but they cut him last week ,out of the blue kinda thing, that makes you think is was a disciplinary issue.

Where did this trade rumor come from?
Is this a case of some 4-letter-network “expert” dreaming up scenario’s or does this rumor have any substance?

Kampman - Collins
The TennBengalFan Fanpost from a couple days ago has a link to the article and there is some further discussion on this scenario.

Collins
Before you write him off remember he came out early. If he would have stayed in school more than likely he would have gone much higher this past year.He was considered a higher pick by some when he did come out.The one knock that I remember was he wasn’t highly motivated. But they said that about Sims, who also came out early. Back to the DL,they do have McDonald on the taxi squad so he may get the call, but once again,if they are looking for a Peko replacement he wouldn’t be your ideal choice because of his size.

.58 is gay and lives in his mommys basement
Jack ( Look MA I got no teeth cause the Bengals kicked them out) Lambert was a pedophile and you are probably one too, but with that being said I think you are in for a rude awakening if you think the Squeelers are going to beat us in the rematch. By the way, I dont think Odom is any more inportant that Aaron Smith so go cry about his unjury and kkep your Fking mouth shut about our team, dikwad!

Well, coming from someone whosescreen name wishes harm on others...
I would fully expect such a post.
I won’t get baited into e-arguing, because that’s even gayer than I (allegedly) am.
A couple things though:
1) I live in California. We don’t really have many basements out this way.
2) My mom is dead, douche.
3) Not to mention, ANYONE who has a screen name that focuses on or includes a member of an opponents team, is pretty hurting, obviously. No one on your team as important to you as Roethlisberger?
4) Aaron Smith is EONS more important than Odom is. Odom’s a nice player. But he had a nice SHORT stretch for you this season. Smith is the anchor of the NFL’s premier run defense. And please…no one of any consequence will agree with you on that. (Remember, I said of any consequence. Quit starting to type a rebuttal).
You stay classy, KillBigBen.
