Panic Attack
Hey Bengals Fans: Chill! It was one game. Our team is 4-2 on the season. We've beat the Steelers, Ravens, Browns, and Packers (and should have beat the 5-0 Broncos). I know we are jumpy fans... years and years of losing will do that to you, but this is a very good team. Its like we're lab rats who have been shocked over and over by a piece of cheese thats attached to a battery... we just don't know how to enjoy cheese when its not hooked up. Remember how the Bills almost beat the Patriots in the beginning of the year (or how the Jets did)? How are those teams doing lately? The fact is the Texans are Very Good Offensively and have had our number the past two years. Sure, losing Odom stings me like a fissure in my ass, but isn't that exactly why we drafted Michael Johnson, to get pressure on the QB? And yes, Carson and our offense have not been as sharp as they have in years past, but look at Peyton Manning last year. How did his team start and how did they finish? As you may recall, Peyton, with his knee injury, and the Colts stumbled out of the gates.
Carson is not Manning but what I'm saying is the offense needs time to get into rhythm. Also, Johnson brings a whole new element of speed, as opposed to power, to our D line. Who knows, that could make it better.
My point is that you can't take one game and draw broad conclusions. Our body of work this year tells us that this is a very good team that has room for improvement in certain areas (TE... cough cough put in Coffman). So yes, the next three games are all tough and will be another test of where we are at as a team. But based on what I've seen, I'm confidant we'll get back on track and play some good football.

You missed the punchline “cough…COFFman.” I’m just saying… but I totaly agree with you on that point. If we are using two tight end sets anyways then we might as well have one out there who can actually catch the ball from time to time. His blocking will get better with time as he gets some experience.
We’ve got some work to do here, and we took some blows last game, but this team is no longer the wimpy kid on the playground that throws up everytime “Sally-future prom queen” walks by. We’ve got some grit and we played an excellent offensive team that got the better of us.
Bring on Chicago!

In some way, shape or form, we have to add a player to the roster. Ideally a DLineman.
Anyone think Jason Shirley could get activated???? I know it sounds stupid, but if you consider the fact that we have merely 2 defensive tackles for some period of time, one of which has plantar fasciatis (however you spell it), We could use some serious beef on the interior.
I was slightly dumbfounded when the Bengals released their 53-man roster, which consisted of a mere 3 DT’s.
Who else could we get off the street? (don’t want Ed Johnson)
As for the Tight Ends, I can’t for the life of me understand why with the likes of Chris Henry, Bubba Clutchwell, Ochocinco, and Laveraneus Coles, we targeted rock-handed blocking TE’s all game long. It’s a wonder why they were so open, Houston knew they couldn’t hang onto the ball, so why cover them.

Anybody else we could get off the street? Well there’s always John Thornton if worst comes to worst… and he can play both DT and DE which would be a good thing for us.

seriously…why cover the TEs. great question. with their drops, fumbles, and poor run blocking yesterday they were a net negative for the team.
