Carson Palmer and Cedric Benson sweep the FedEx awards

I had a rough week this week, which was highlighted by a broken down car that I had to have towed from a 6'6" garage in downtown Dayton. Note, they don't make many tow trucks today that are 6'6". However, while my week was rough, Cedric Benson and Carson Palmer each had a good week, thanks to an offense that exploded for 45 points Sunday. Palmer had already won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award earlier in the week.

That wasn't enough. It never is.

On Friday, Palmer was named the FedEx Air Player of the Week and Benson was named the Fed Ground Player of the Week. Call it FedEx Domination. A FedEx Sweep. Have a problem with the UPS guy drawing on the white board? Call in the FedEx Dominators, Palmer and Benson. They'll show you where that marker won't easily erase. Sorry. Got carried away.

This is the second time that Benson won the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Against the Baltimore Ravens, Benson rushed for 120 yards on 27 carries and scored a touchdown.

Let's spark a debate

Who would you take right now over Cedric?

The only back I can honestly say I would take over Cedric is AP. That’s saying something considering that AP is kind of like a once-in-a-lifetime kind of player. What do these two backs have in common? Both are young power backs who have each made a Steeler look a fool. For AP it was Gay. For Benson it was Polamalu in last year’s first matchup.

That being said, I’m not sure the contract details of AP or Cedric but I would assume Cedric’s contract is microscopic in contrast to AP’s.

Good question

I would take AP over Cedric
people who come close would be DeAngelo Williams, Clinton Portis, Ray Rice, Steven Jackson, and Chris Johnson

ad is a definite over cedric or anybody else. other than that, i’d probably take brandon jacobs, just because he’s the size of a d-end and runs like hell. but for the way he’s running, you really can’t beat having ced in the backfield right now. i’m loving that situation.

i'm going to go america all over your ass!

Chris Johnson and AP are the only ones that I would take over Benson right now. D. Williams I wouldn’t think would be a good fit for us, and neither would Ray Rice. Maybe a healthy Steven Jackson would be a pretty close tie.

I think that CJohnson is too slight of frame to hold up in this division. AP would be a keeper, and I would love Steven Jackson. But for now, Ced is doing pretty well too

Good answers, guys.

Like I said, I don’t know the details of Benson’s contract but we had to have signed him for super cheap considering that nobody else was giving him a shot. What scares me is when we do re-sign him for a big contract (this is almost guaranteed) will Cedric’s work ethic slip? Bears fans and Skip Bayless say so.

Raging Clue- I thought about Brandon Jacobs. That guy is HUGE. Probably the closest thing to the Bus in the league right now but faster. I also like Portis, Ray Rice, and Steven Jackson. I haven’t seen much of DeAngelo Williams… he’s with the Panthers right? And I have seen Chris Johnson play- like him a lot. But is he a every-down back?

Chris Johnson is definitely and every down back. He’s carrying around 20 per game and is a great receiver out of the backfield. The guy is incredibly quick and makes tacklers look foolish.

This is our year!

Contract Details

Benson – Signed a two-year, $7 million deal this offseason.

AP – Still playing off his rookie contract. Considering he was the seventh draft pick, he signed a six-year, $40.5 million contract. The deal contains $17 million guaranteed.

Proud to Wear My Bengals Apparell

Carson and Cedric (and Ocho, and Rey) have made it fun to wear my Bengals sweatshirt, Bengals visor and Bengals jacket. Bring on the Ravens!

9 games left

How many do you think the Bengals will win? I say 6 games with the tough ones being Vikings, Steelers, and Ravens I am not counting them in the win total if they get at least one out of this group that could be 12-4 with a bye or at least home field what does everyone else think?
