Sign LJ? - Poll

I just wanted to put up a poll to see who favors this move.  I don't personally think that it's a good idea, but then again I didn't think the Benson signing was a good move either and I turned out to be wrong on that one.

Star-divide

Pro's - Former pro-bowl running back. Discounted contract. Possibly a capable backup. He has to be on good behavior to stay in the NFL.  Marvin Lewis suggested that at this point he will be a 4th string back.  Bengals have a good track record of turning scrapped players into productive parts of the team.

Con's - Unproductive the last two years.  He has a reputation for being a bad character guy.  Might disrupt team chemistry.  Have to cut somebody else (possibly Fui Vakapuna).  Bernard Scott does not get a chance to prove himself as a backup RB.  John Thorton suggested that Cincy would want to use him to spell Ced Benson as a #2 back, pushing Scott to a 3rd down role and leaving Leonard the odd man out.

I'll continue to add to the pros and cons list as you write out your opinions. Mostly I'm just interested in seeing how many people favor this signing versus how many don't.

Poll

marvin lewis has said that if he signs johnson, it is purely a back up role only. that it will not have any effect on the current RBs places on the roster. He said he plans to use Johnson in special teams and other places when needed. I suspect if they sign him, benson might be a little more injured than they are letting on. i hope that isnt the case either way. i think johnson can add some depth, and im up for signing him if, and only if, he is back up/relief for our 3 RBs all ready in place. Obviously he’s talented…I dont care for his attitude, he better be humble here. if he signs good players stick with their teams. i hope his problems in KC are not just on him, perhaps there’s some people there that dont like him? i dont know the true/full story, i doubt most of us do. if we sign him, i have confidence they know what they are doing. after all, the team is what it is today, because of the players we signed from other teams that were not working out, along with some good draft picks. i stand by them either way, johnson might not be that bad of a guy IF they sign him.

As I so eloquently put it earlier this week

Nooooo (said like a pouty kid banging kicking and screaming on the floor)!! We don’t need this guy. There is no reason to take risk on him. With our upcoming schedule against Oakland, Cleveland, and Detroit, Benson should have plenty of time to get healthy. The last thing our young team needs is a poisonous player who hasn’t produced in several years. Plus I was looking forward to seeing more Bernard Scott in action. I’ve also loved what Brian Leonard has brought to the table in terms of toughness and getting those extra yards. So unless Scott is hurt too, I say that I like the guys we have and we should move on without him.

If the Bengals can work out a deal, this will be a godsend for us. Count on it.

Corey Dillion was washed up too!!!

When he left here, everybody said he was washed up and he wouldn’t make an impact with the Patriots. WRONG!!!!!! He won 1 if not 2 (I think) Super Bowl rings as a back up RB there. They told Dillion shut your mouth and know your role and he did. Look what happened!!!!! Same scenario. LJ will shut his mouth and know his role and help us obtain a SB win!!!!!

actually, most people thought corey dillon had two good years left in him when he left here, and a lot of those peole openly mocked the bengals for giving him to the patriots for only a 2nd round pick.

i'm going to go america all over your ass!

Lewis will handle LJ and he will be a good addition

if lj had one damn thing left in the tank, i’d say go for it. he hasn’t had a meaningful season since he carried 400 times; the wheels fell off a while ago and any dollar amount spent on him would be a waste. i’d rather have dede.

LJ was the 3rd best RB on our roster

I just wanted to come tell you guys this move isnt bad, but he isnt better then Scott or Benson for sure. Jamal Charles is a way better back. Alot of people blame it on the O Line but thats not the case. LJ had the lowest YPC average out of the other backs we have. He is done for guys. He cant break tackles from a CB anymore. He couldnt even run wild on the Raiders D, Jamal Charles put up a 100 yards on 18 carries and got us the first rushing TD of the year. This is a low risk move though so it shouldnt be a problem.

Also, I wanted to wish you guys good luck with the rest of the season. Hopefully you guys dont whoop us to bad week 16 lol. Good luck and I hope you guys can make it deep in the playoffs, I know Cincy fans have always been classy to me. Ive came there to watch the game the last time we played there.

OHANA!

I voted no

First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...
