ZImmer gone next year?
Boy I hope not, but his name is being brought up around the league as a head coaching canidate. My opinion: he should be the Bengals head coach but that is just my opinion, but i doubt Marvin will go anywhere. Most of the Bengals success should be credited to Zimmer and his defense, not Marvin who I think makes alot of questionable coaching decisions. If Mikey Boy has any sense he will lock Zimmer up and make him the head coach or assistant head coach or something like that, because he is one of the best if not the best coach that has ever been on the Bengals sideline. Who Dey!!!

tough call on that one. My vote would be to pay him head coach kind of money but keep him where he is.
This is our year!

thats the nature of the beast
It sucks but what are you going to do. he’s a huge talent and has earned the right to be a head coach. I wish him the best, I just hope its on an NFC team. what a nightmare would it be if he landed in Cleveland. The only thing that would suck about it (other than obvious selfish reasons) is the possibility that he is not a head coach. perfect example is Dick Leblow. one of the best DC in the history of the game, but a joke of a head coach. It wouldn’t be a bad thing if he left to a long career as a head coach, but it would suck if it didn’t work out and he came back to DC a division rival. no one can argue he has done an amazing job.

keep marvin and zimmer
Without Marvin Zimmer would be here plus, Marvin is the guy who has set the tone for the whole team, Zimmer’s defense is amazing, he will be a head coach one day, but lets not discredit marvin lewis, plus I think we want to keep Zim’s focus on defense rather than a full team, Even Marvin Lewis, the creator of the Ravens dominant defense had to bring in a great defensive coordinator, If marvin continues to struggle then you make the move for Zim for head coach, but not while we’re 7-2 sweeping the ravens and steelers, marvin should win coach of the year..

I agree with ak513
As well as CarsonorBust… Mike needs to give him a raise and sign him to a new contract. Pay him whatever it takes to keep him in Cincinnati. He’s one of the best assets the Bengals have!

Marvin and Zim both coached together for many years and
they have great chemistry together, like best friends. Pay the man and at the end of ML’s contract, if things do not go right with resigning ML, then sign Zim as head coach. I think Zim likes it here and would stay with ML, as long as ML asks him to. With the money of course. MB loves ML and ML is not going anywhere, anytime soon. Hopefully ML can get MB to pay Zim head coach money, to keep him. Wouldn’t that burn Brats ass!!!!!

Do we know if he even wants to be a head coach?
Did he interview for a head coaching job and not get it? Is this the last year on his contract? Why would we want him over Marvin as head coach? Marvin’s done a very good job of turning this franchise around.

zim has said before that he wants to be a head coach and has been upset in the past at not getting jobs for which he interviewed. but that’s the luck of the draw when you have a great coordinator.
i'm going to go america all over your ass!

Zim will stay as our DC if he doesn't take a head coach job.
there is no way Zimmer leaves this team for another DC job. it’s a ton of work rebuilding a new unit and he just did the hard part. the only thing he leaves for is a HC job. if he gets it, it’s a hell of a lot more dough and prestige. you might match the dough but you can’t manufacture the spotlight. all coordinators work for that. no chance in the world of a potential coach of the year getting fired to make room for a coordinator. you have to hope he stays but also hope he gets everything he has worked for. Hell, the guy earned it.

If (and that's a big "if")
Mikey Boy has a brain in his head, he’ll keep ’em both. Just split his GM “bonus” between them. Even offer partial ownership. Just do WHATEVER it takes to keep ’em both!

ha, partial ownership?
the only time Mickey ever let go of a nickel was to get a better grip.

Don't you think that he's better as D-coordinator than a head coach?
If he wants to be a head coach, than that’s his decision, but he’s best at coaching defenses and as head coach, he wouldn’t be doing what he does best. Plus, he calls this unit “his guys” and seems genuinely satisfied with his current position. Of course, I don’t know the man and am only speaking from a distanced outside perspective, but I think a good coordinator could enjoy life easier than a struggling head coach.
