Humble Pie
I am the one who wrote the fan post - 10 reasons why the Steelers beat the Bengals last week.
In one of the comments I challeged one of your blog-members to come back and post his post game reaction to the what I at the time believed would be a blow out. He agreed and challenged me to do the same. I have not looked to see if it has happened, but wanted to come here and respect his challenge in the same manner I respect your team.
The Bengals handed the Steelers a tough loss at home. No excuses. Ben Roethlisbergers game looked like he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Skippy the punter showed again that he is afraid to tackle anything except a towel dispenser (although he did make one stop later in the game in a feeble attempt to redeem himself), and our running game fell apart behind an offensive line that was as offensive as they were at times during our last season.
Once again. No excuses. Good game. Well fought. I am choking on some big words right now and can only hope we get to have the chance to see you in the post season.
Good game and best of luck for the rest of the season.
Sincerely,
One Humbled FanofSteel.

Thanks- the respect is mutual
I don’t think you want to see us in the playoffs and we really don’t want to see you either. We know you’re a good team and we’ve been fortunate to sweep Pittsburgh this year. But honestly, I don’t think you want to see this team in the post season unless something changes.
Yeah you won't make it to the playoffs
Not without Polomalu. You guys are what 1-3 without him? Rothlesburger is a total chode and now teams have a blue print on how to beat him senseless. You calling a blowout shows you know nothing about football. Why would a team you lost to suddenly tank and let you blow them out? What did you see in our first eight games that would lead you to believe you could blow us away?
Your running game is suspect and you have a rapist for a quarterback.
I understand that we did something historical
But this guy came in here and owned up to the loss. I’d rather talk trash to the Steelers fans I know IRL. They’re all douchebags. They only root for the Steelers because of Ben despite the fact they know he’s an asshole. But I wont argue either of your last two points. Those were pretty spot on. I live in Findlay and have heard that Ben abuses his celebrity to get laid. Mendenhall though is a load to bring down, but he needs to learn ball security before he can be considered an elite back.
@FanofSteel.
Very classy move. The game could have went either way if offenses weren’t just plain, well offensive(uh-fens-ive). We’ve waited 11 years to bust out the brooms on you.

"I live in Findlay and have heard that Ben abuses his celebrity to get laid"
Did something happen between Ben and Mrs. Destroyer of Worlds? It’s ok, let it out, share with the group. No offense but I’ve been to Findlay. They have more Blue Ribbon Hogs than perfect 10s running around. I got a hard time beleiving Ben is flying to Findlay after games cruiseing the barn dance, looking for love. There are so many valid reasons to hate Ben and the Steelers you don’t need to manufacture one.

...
Fanofsteel made a classy post and owned up to being wrong, so I don’t see what’s wrong with his post. It’s much better than what Wardane33 wrote so you’ve got to cut him a little slack.
This is our year!

Yea, don't bite his head off,
The Steelers are a respectable opponent and thats a classy move to admit you were wrong. Much respect to you fanofsteel for coming to the Jungle and saying it out loud!
Also, while Big Ben may or may not be the classiest guy, he’s a heck of a QB that went up against a great D. Can’t wait for the next game so we get a chance to compete against him again.
this changes everything
1492 Columbus discovers American and proves the world is not flat, 1905 Einstein discovers the Theory of Relativity that leads to splitting the atom, and in 2009 we discoved evidence of a Steelers fan with a streak of class. someday we will be telling our grandchildren about this.

What about Al Gore?
Without the internet, I’d be sending this comment via “snail mail”.

no, that's not true either
*caveat, I’m not sure if you were joking…
he did propose a bunch of bills and initiatives to expand the ARPANET system to a more ubiquitous tool for public good.
""During my service in the United States Congress I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country’s economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."

That'd be the butt, bob.

I was LMFAO…then I read your post.

So he helped fund the internet
That’s not really inventing or really doing anything other than being an investor. So thanks Gore for helping the tax payers fund the internet to fruition.

He didn't sit down and write code for it...
but he did, legitimately, provide the impetus that moved it to where it is now. I don’t see why people seek to diminish that. He didn’t make any grandiose claim.
He really was the first.
Anyway, I’ll not belabor it because it isn’t Bengal related.
I’ll hang up and listen to your reply.
That'd be the butt, bob.
Oh I'm not trying belittle his efforts
Let us all rejoice in his forthought. Without him I wouldn’t be able to access porn and funny videos so easily. Thank god for Al Gore.

Well, if you won't then I will.
Al Gore is an empty shirt. He is riding a wave of fear mongering and make believe political correctness. The guy won the Nobel Peace Prize by way of an organized effort to promote his win. The person who didn’t get the prize because of Al Gore’s campaign for it was a woman who in the latter days of WWII hid and transported away over 2500 children from the grasps of their nazi oppressors at the risk of her own life. She is living a very modest life, Ok she is living in poverty. Al Gore took the cash award and probably used it to fly his jet around and promote environmental responsibility. All in the name of a mythical phenomenon touted in a book. The inconvenient truth is that it was absolutely full of bad science and misleading and politically charged rhetoric and statistics.
I am sorry but this man is an example of the worst in US politics and policy. I cannot think of a living and breathing person for whom I have less respect. I do however appreciate the porn thing though but he just rode the wave of the inevitable. Do you really think there would be no internet without Al Gore?
" My enemy said "Love your enemy". I obeyed and loved myself." Gibran
re-engaging...
I can certainly think of worse people in US politics and policy decision making… Dick Cheney being a very easy example.
There was no significant move toward the development of a public available internet before Gore.
I don’t know that any other senators had any interest or understanding of the capabilities of such a system. Remember, Ted Stevens even as of 200x called it a “series of tubes”. You think he was working toward anything of the ilk?
I can’t fault the dude for winning an award that he didn’t nominate himself for.
I don’t know what he did with the money.
I won’t engage in further threadshift on the merit of global climate change.
I guess a winning record brings out freaks.
by supergrover on Nov 19, 2009 10:32 AM EST up reply actions
maybe he thought Cheney was dead
you know accidently killing himself while hunting in a drunken stupor
Apparently we disagree. But I do respect your right to your own opinion.
I will go on to let you know, if only to encourage further investigation, that there was a major push by proponents of the theory of climate change to get Al Gore nominated. An effort in which Al Gore was fully engaged. He is just one of many self serving politicians on both sides of the aisle, both Rep and Dem, for whom I hold little regard.
I do enjoy a civil political debate however this is probably not the appropriate venue. Let me know and I would be happy to make myself available in a general forum. I would only say that my definition of a civil debate is one in which, if sufficient information and data is presented either party is open to changing their opinion. Anything other than that is just a rant and a waste of time for both of us.
" My enemy said "Love your enemy". I obeyed and loved myself." Gibran
Really? He's The Worst in the World?
“I cannot think of a living and breathing person for whom I have less respect.”
Wow, were you in a coma from 2001-2008??? Are you factually challenged? Are you mentally handicapped? Stop me when I get it right. I know this isn’t a political posting board, but when someone posts the utter idiocy that you just did, you’re asking for someone to point out just how far up your ass your supposed brain is.
No one living you respect less? Really? Are you one of those 23% that still think George “Heckuva Job Brownie” Bush was just awesome??? How about Osama Bin Laden, you jackass. Are you saying you respect Osama Bin Laden more than you respect Al Gore? What about Robert Mugabe? Do you even know who he is??
Global Climate Change is “mythical phenomenon?” Well, that’s a relief. I got worried that Global Climate Change was actually real since 2008 tied with 2001 as the eighth warmest year on record for the Earth. How fortunate that even though all of the temperature data shows that the world is warmer since 1900, it’s merely a myth! Oh wait, I forgot that you are merely an idiot (and I am giving you the benefit of the doubt).
You can debate the causes of Climate Change, but no one with more than 3 brain cells can deny that the worldwide climate is changing. Ever go to Glacier Nation Park in Montana? Well, all the glaciers are almost gone. Oh, and check this out.

Stupidity is curable, but willful ignorance is a chronic condition. I wish you luck in finding a cure.
i love jestures like this and i think you're a great ambassador of the steel city...
but when you say “no excuses” yet follow it up with:
Ben Roethlisbergers game looked like he couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn. Skippy the punter showed again that he is afraid to tackle anything except a towel dispenser (although he did make one stop later in the game in a feeble attempt to redeem himself), and our running game fell apart behind an offensive line that was as offensive as they were at times during our last season.
those sound like excuses. just sayin’…
Not excuses. Explaination.
Excuses would sound like..
If we hadn’t had such a hard time on ….
If we hadn’t blah blah blah.
Not excuses.
I wasn’t pleased because we didn’t win - Mike Tomlin (after the 2009 week 2 loss to Chicago).
Wow
I guess this is referring to me (and I actually just expected a reply in his own thread on the Pittsburgh site).
Dude, way to man up. Seriously, kudos for the response. And while losses suck (as any Bengals fan can attest to, having experienced more than our share), that was such a grind it out war of a defensive battle that the Steelers should still have their heads held high and their eyes focused on the playoff finish line, because they’ll be there. And once they’re both there, the record will be 0-0 again, and we’ll see who can go the farthest.
Thank you and I hope to watch the best game of the year in the playoffs.
