Just depends

If the Bengals are off to a quick lead, about 2-3 possessions ahead, then I’ll bet LJ gets a lot of work. Will he play when the game is within a score? Again, who knows. How much work did he get in practice, how quickly has he grasped the offense? Lewis said he had a good week, but my guess is that his carries will depend on the game situation.

what does Lewis have against rookies? did one of them steal his sandwiches or something because he just doesn’t trust them

by Sheffieldbengal on Nov 22, 2009 2:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I just think it's kind of sad that two of our top draft picks are inactive this late in the season.

How much more time does Andre need? Coffman sure looks like a reach right about now.

It's weird. He'll play Maualuga, Rivers and Scott...

But Chase, Andre and Jerome are like leprosy carries.

by IFChris on Nov 22, 2009 2:55 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He needs to do more on special teams.

Hence why Purify is playing and Simpson isn’t.

Coffman came from a non-blocking style of college football so you can kinda understand that. But really? 1st 2nd and 3rd round picks that don’ get on the field…. maybe they were all Mike Brown mega-picks and Lewis is making a statement

Yeah...

If Foschi is doing a half-decent job blocking, let him and Chase play.

How bad is Coffman in the blocking game that he’s not even active against Oakland?!

I just hung a Foschi auto'd 8x10 on the wall

We need to spread secondaries.

Without Slim, we have less of a vertical threat. Coffman could actually occupy safeties in the middle of the field. Imagine the possibilities…

by jsl413 on Nov 22, 2009 3:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

welll a pass catching TE/H-back would be nice… but i agree

by Sheffieldbengal on Nov 22, 2009 2:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

put Jerome on KC, the Jets, Ravens, Browns etc etc and he gets playing time but i guess we shouldn’t complain too much

by Sheffieldbengal on Nov 22, 2009 2:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

To follow up:

Jordan Palmer – wouldn’t get PT
Andre Smith - could start for other teams
Cedric Benson – injured, would start for most teams
Evan Mathis – injured, could start for other teams
Keith Rivers – injured, would start for most teams
Chase Coffman – I think Coffman could crack the active list on other teams. Even if he can’t block, he’s gotta be better than one of the scrub TEs we play…
Jerome Simpson – Speed to burn. Would definitely crack an NFL roster somewhere
Fui Vakapuna – maybe wouldn’t get much PT as a tweener back

by jsl413 on Nov 22, 2009 2:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

You guys have to also consider

The Bengals game plan. If their offense is going to be a primarily rushing offense, then it makes sense to keep Chase inactive. And my point earlier in the week that the offensive line is doing just fine w/o Andre Smith remains.

Blogger at CincyJungle.com -- SB Nation Cincinnati Bengals blog.

by Kirkendall on Nov 22, 2009 3:01 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

makes no sense

Lap said Andre was the best blocking OT, by a wide wide margin, in last year’s draft. surely he could be on goal line or short yardage…

The word overrated gets thrown around way too much. Nnamdi whateverthehellitis deserves the praise. The Raiders were ridiculed for taking him 31st overall, now he’s the top CB in the league. Offenses are afraid of him, almost never throwing his way. Our COC, though, loves stepping up to a challenge like that.

Chad called for false start again.

Second of the game. Palmer is irritated as hell.

3rd-and-6

Palmer, in shotgun, two WRs on both sides. Palmer looks to throw when the football is stripped. Oakland recovers, but Bobbie Williams strips the football. The football keeps rolling away, towards Oakland’s endzone, when one of the Raiders dropped on the football.

Raiders at the Bengals 34-yard line.

Quick pass to a back out of the backfield. Ndukwe sprints up and drops the RB for a one-yard gain.

i dont know the rule

Coles hadnt touched the fumble and got popped in the back. Somehow that seems fair and illegal at the same time.

God, Chad, what the hell man....

No protection on the back side. Coles fails to fall on the ball (even though he got pushed in the back)… GGod.

Pitch to Bernard Scott to the right. Dennis Roland and Bobbie Williams pulled to the edge and made great blocks. Seven yard gain.

He was pretty good last week. He found some holes where there were no holes against the Steelers.

3 yard average?

I mean, against the Steelers it’s not bad.. but let’s not give him too much credit yet.

He's just much more effective outside.

He bounced that inside handoff outside… as Jeremi whiffed on the block.

LJ is just doing nothing on the sideline.
