Much more hopeful on Monday, Batch will miss 6 weeks :)

I have optimism today even after an epic fail by Cincy, plus Detroit and the Brownies looked real good on Sunday, I dont think either of those teams will look even close to that good in these next two weeks at PBS, especially against Hall and Jon Jo. We had several dropped interceptions that could have sealed the deal yesterday, and the fumbles we saw, we know that won't happen again. We should all be more hopeful for the season, especially with Big Ben hurt, and their backup out 6 weeks as well with surgery. The Steelers still play Baltimore twice and they have not looked very good lately. So if we can win these next two games, and i think we always play better against the good teams like minnesota, we will be ok. The main thing we should be worried about is making the playoffs and winning the division not what seed we get because we haven't even clinched a spot yet. And for those that were saying Sunday that Jon Jo sucks you get a freaking CHILD PLEASE!!! that man has been spectacular this season and so has Hall. Both Corners looked great but just couldn't come up with the picks. This game will wake up this team and motivate them more to show the world we are an elite team. You watch we will be back next week, Benson will be back soon and running with a vengeance. So things are still looking up we are still in first and Pitt is self destructing. This was a wake up call and I believe this loss will wake the team up!!

This was a trap game we all were aware of that before we went into Sunday.  We dominated the entire game but the turnovers and missed field goal killed us. Bratkowski made some terrible decisions (having JJ run the ball) and whoevers idea it was for Caldwell to return was a dumb one as well when B Scott was on fire Sunday. I have a few suggestions also, I think we should have Andre Smith get in at right tackle since Roland was dominated most of the game, Let Shayne get away in free agency after the season, get away from the run run pass punt mentality, and have Calwell play receiver while B Scott or Cosby returns Kickoffs. We saw some great things though, Scott had an awesome game I beleive 119 yards on like 22 carries (nice).  Morgan Trent pretty much gave that last drive away on that fourth and 10 and on the TD catch by Murphy, where was David Jones?

We should be freaking ecstatic!! Remember last season at this time? I believe 0-10 something like that

Also Steelers QB Charlie Batch out at least 6 weeks with surgery, and no word on Ben but it will be shocking if he plays after a concussion like that. They are down to there third and only QB left Dennis Dixon.

Good post

Our lack of depth at DB was bound to catch up with us at some point. I’ve been amazed at how well Trent has played to date, but am not surprised that they were throwing at him at the end of the game. Can’t blame J-Joe, even though an INT right there seals the deal. You really have to look at all the mistakes on offense. The red-zone offense has been woeful the past couple of weeks, and I think you have to pin that on Bratkowski. We have 4th and goal, end up getting sacked on 3rd down for a loss of 18 and miss a 37 yard field goal. Inexcusable.

Yeah, I think we can do better than our franchise player. He’s fairly consistent, but come on…for the money he’s wanting you simply don’t miss kicks like that. Too many points left on the field means we lose.

Thanks

Bratkowski has made some very conservative/questionable choices in the red zone

I think "conservative" is the right word...

We were actually referring to his “Rush Limbaugh” offense during the game. It was frustrating to see us come out and take control of the game, only to apparently take the foot off of the accelerator once we were ahead. I understand ball control – and we definitely did that – but that in and of itself is obviously not enough to win. Just an ugly, ugly second half. That said, I think our squad has a lot of “bounce back” in them, and I think we’ll show that against the Browns and Lions. If we can win these next two and be at 9-3, then we’ll be looking very good. The issue is we still want to play down to the inferior teams, and it’s so very frustrating.

good phrase "Bounce Back"

i agree with that

i guess i'm the only one who was ok with the playcalling.

a lot of people seem to be complaining about it, but i actually liked it. we ran the ball well, controlled the clock, drove down the field, wore out their defensive line, and then fumbled to kill all momentum. we would have put the game away if not for that JJ fumble. not a bad play call, poor execution by JJ. not Brat’s fault. we had a 4th quarter lead on the road and we just needed to kill some clock.

i’m not that upset to be honest. pitt and balt both lost so we really aren’t hurt. we need to come back and finish strong. it’s not going to be impossible with this team.

by GrooveLeg on Nov 23, 2009 11:37 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It was "OK" it has been worse

but after being up 14-0 i want to see us continue to stomp them wiht TD after TD, not just run the clock and let them hang around. But like you said we are still in first that’s why im still optimistic

I wasn't upset with play call for JJ

but Brat has to take into acount that Palmer isn’t handing the ball off with precision do to his injured thumb. If JJ rarely takes a hand-off there is bound to be a problem-I think he never realy had the ball fixed after Palmer handed it off.

Yes right there is where i would have like to see LJ

I dont understand a FB run when we are not on the goaline or short yardage. It was JJ’s fault but it shouldn’t have been in his hands to begin with in my opinion. Right there around the 10 yard line is were we miss Slim so much with the fade…that is why i recommend a Jerome Simpson or Purify with there height around that part of the field. Even Ocho does well with the Fade, it seems like when we get down their we are playing for field goals which have been inconsistent all season with bad snaps, holds, and terrible kicks.

agreed.

LJ would have been the better call.

by GrooveLeg on Nov 23, 2009 11:56 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

agreed, sorta

execution sucked on some parts (runs, blocking).

But, I gotta go with “28-0” is safer than “14-0”.
Dunno why I put quotes.

I guess a winning record brings out freaks.

gas pedal

Yea, I really think we you shouldn’t take your foot off the gas pedal until you have at least a three touchdown lead. Just an opinion. I really think we need to dial up a few more big plays. We all know Palmer is capable of it, and with the running game cruising it should have opened up some things down field

I don't see ANY way the Bengals lose again.

I think that abomination was a trap game from the git-go and I still say fire Brat. But NO WAY do Marvin and Zim let that shite happen again. I think with that loss out of the way, the team will be fired up enough to run the table. They (Marvin and Zim) hold this game up to them as a lightning rod to spurn the Cardiac Cats to a great finish.

P.S.

Fire Brat! Once we get a lead, just keep the foot on the gas. Brat was too conservative and let the Raiders back in the game. Once they were back in the game our guys just played not to lose and it cost us big time. Once we get a lead, keep putting our foot on their throats, just like we did against the Bears. WE ARE the dominate team in our division and we need to play like it!

O.K. I’m gonna go raid the wifes Ativan now.

but yea we need to keep stepping harder on their throats

SEE: Bears game. But yea we dont need to be so conservative once we get a lead against anybody!!!

I’ll second that “anybody”.

I suppose it might be a good idea for them to have at least a little experience in the NFL. Probably. But even somebody who didn’t would still probably be better by like game 5 or so.

Brian Kelly is a Offensive genius

I’ve seen a story on him and you would be amazed about how he does things. The guy is constantly drawing new plays, almost everyday for each and every opponent. Whether they are special teams plays, to trick plays, to old plays that are hardly ever used anymore. He is constantly thinking football. Sounds sick but it’s good in a sick kinda way!

breathe in... breathe out

Hopefully we show up next week. Does Marvin know we have a game this Sunday? I wish we had fired Brat after last season; the run run pass punt routine doesn’t fool anyone. It’s like watching a girl play Madden.. What happened to the fake punts and the pile driving from earlier this season? Brat doesn’t know how to use the teams weapons and is sitting on the offense’s hands. Let Palmer run the game, how about going no-huddle and just sitting at the line calling plays on the go? We could still run the ball and take time off the clock with the added benefit of wearing down the defense more. Where is the innovation? You have to have more than eight plays in the game plan..

Okay, I feel a little better now.. Check out this video and here’s to our defense hopefully feeling as much anger as we feel:

To my point in the post on Scott not returning the kick

Scott said he was cramping and couldnt do it, but Cosby returned kickoffs in college “Hint Hint”

If Leon would have just held onto the ball on that late-game-almost-pick, we’d all be much happier right about now.

Somebody needs to find some special “glue” or something and send it to the equipment managers to apply to our DBs gloves in late-game situations.

Batch

This guy has the best job in the world. Has anyone noticed that everytime Ben gets hurt he goes down minutes later? The guy has been getting a paycheck from the Steelers for years and has 2 SB rings but has yet to really play a game.

I got issued a warning there, too. I wasn’t too nice about it

Have you ever met Steeler Fans in Findlay? Or Ben?

They are the worst kind of bandwagon fans I have ever met. They hate Ben, but since he’s from here, they root for him and his team.

As for Ben. He’s a jerkoff, plain and simple.

Don’t be a little girl (irony, get it?)

Should I cheer for someone going somewhere and being instigative when I don’t like it when people come here and do the same?
The only thing I said otherwise was about you and the “iiiiimmmmddddoooonnnnee” and pedro about his sweet attitude.
Saying the steelers are a good team is not “defending” them… they have a history. they are the reigning champs. It’s not like I’m defending the fucking Raiders as world beaters.

re:Your “I’m done” wasn’t clear and I wasn’t the only one who thought you were referring to the team in general. Also, I only said a throwaway line about it, so you made much too much.
