Bengal Banter: Brownies Week
This is going to have to be short. Sorry, I'm sick and writing a thesis.
- Very cool story on Johnathan Fanene by John Eradi for the Enquirer. Read it if you didn't get the chance! This guy was a 7th round gem, not unlike late-round picks Ndukwe and Houshmandzadeh (they turned out pretty good, huh?), who has cracked the starting lineup and has been majorly productive. Coach Lewis says he's made the most progress of any Bengal player this year!
- Power rankings. Bengals fall to 6 from 4 in CBS's rankings, getting a generous C- grade from Pete Prisco after they blew things in Oakland.
- In ESPN's rankings, The Bengals fell to 7 from 4, with New England, Arizona, and San Diego moving ahead. We'll have a chance to play San Diego in a few weeks to prove these rankings wrong. I guess losing to Oakland does that to a team's prestige.
- Washington Post's Les Carpenter writes that the Bengals are an "arresting story" this year in a good way! That's cute.

Week 12`
Need to come out and like we did last week for first couple of drives. Then stick it to them. Big game…..and lets hope Steelers fall to Ravens

fanene, trent, b. scott, ndukwe, et al, really only serve to disprove all those disparaging remarks about the bengals scouting department; it might be small, but it’s probably the most efficient scouting department in the nfl.

I was just going to say this
People like wdr who bash it keep forgetting that we bring in great players in late rounds, we just have unusually horrible luck with early picks.

not to mention college free agents we’ve racked up (e.g., quan cosby and mo purify); and our rejects seem to have no trouble landing elsewhere.

I agree it's efficient
I think the Bengals have good drafts when they coach the senior bowl; otherwise I think they are avg. win some lose some.
