Bengals Flush the Browns Down
Who said the signing of Larry Johnson was a bad idea? Not me! Oh no! (Do you hear the whirling sound of backpedaling? No, neither do I. (okay, I might’ve said a few bad words against the signing of Johnson)). Johnson just ran 22 times for 107 yards. That’s 4.9 yards a carry, and his longest run was 13 yards. And how about rookie Bernard Scott rushing for 87 yards? Scott has more moves than all the dancers on that one dancing show (Starring with Dancers? Another Attempt at a Show with Very Little Production Costs? I don’t even know what the hell it’s called. Nor do I want to).

Yes, I admit it
I had thought this was a bad idea, and the performance last week (Scott with 119 yds as the primary back) had done nothing to change that…
…but I have to admit to making the wrong call: the depth WAS useful today, with Scott’s turf toe. In my own defense, though, if the injury had occurred elsewhere, everyone would be crapping on the LJ signing. We played that entire game without a backup center (Luigs was a game day inactive) in order to have both Mathis and LJ in the lineup. Fortunate that Kyle Cook didn’t get nicked up. We only had 3 natural DT’s in the lineup, two of whom were battling injuries, as well…
If LJ can keep it up that will be huge.
Benson is huge to your playoff chances, if you have a viable second option (Scott is good, but not going to get you consistent tough yardage like LJ or Benson can) that’s even better.
Before the second win over us I started telling people I thought Cincy could be a legit SB threat. A QB, a power run game, talent at WR, a defense that doesn’t give up big plays, and most important, three corners who are playing at a very high level.
