"It’s something that we knew we were going to have to get done eventually," said Coffman, who will have surgery to remove the bone spurs next week. "They decided that they weren’t going to play me for the rest of the season and get it done so I can start getting ready for next season." "You always want to play and help out the team but I got to learn a lot while being here and it’s something that will help me in the long run and get prepared for next year," Coffman said, "I feel like I made a lot of progress. Learning the TE position here compared to Missouri is totally different. I feel like I’ve come a long way (in blocking) and keep improving on that."
