No Deep threat = no Chance in the playoffs... please give Simpson or Free Agent a chance!!!
Ive heard the talk on the radio, this board and TV that we are running team and you don't have to pass to win. These comments and beliefs can no longer be considered anything but delusional You HAVE to be able to go down field with a passing game in the NFL. Are we even a running team when we cant score a TD in six games with that position? I think its becoming clear that the current configuration of passing threats wont work. Purify is the worst roster move this team has maybe ever made considering the opportunity we have.Caldwell and Coles are nothing more then possesion guys
If your a Simpson hater I dont understand it but then we need to go get a Free agent that gives us some kind of deep threat. Henry offered that and since the very second he broke his arm we have been one of the worst offenses in the league. We have 3 games to switch this lineup and give Palmer new options. It might not work but it would be a shame and an insult to this D not to at least try

Your comments on this subject were so off weeks ago when were were getting by the Lions and Browns that I am sure you dont want to go over this again. I am glad to see you have come around to logic ..Thanks
Really .. I expect the “Purify Supporters/ We are a running team guys” to come up with some new angle on why we dont need Simpson or a Free Agent for help..I really wish i wasnt correct but unfortuantly my fears are coming true
Bengal Boy
I’m with you on trying out Simpson. But you gotta realize that the problem is Bratkowski, the O line, and finally Palmer. Even if we had another big time threat in there Bratkowski wouldn’t know how to use him, the O line wouldn’t be able to protect Palmer, and ultimately Palmer wouldn’t be able to get him the ball.

I wasn't neccesarily ever against putting Simpson on the field
Purify is mainly active because he is a gunner. But what good will putting Simpson on the field do if he’s never thrown to. It’s obvious CP9 only trusts Esteban. Simpson stretching the field doesn’t really matter in the passing game unless CP9 makes his reads and stops throwing to Esteban in triple coverage. And with the way Coles blocked yesterday(not good), Simpson as a decoy could give our ground game some new life. I’ve come around and mostly agree with you. I just don’t know if our OC/HC/QB committee is creative enough to maximize the potential results this could bring. After the last four games, I say that our OC/HC/QB are not creative enough. The problems with the passing game go beyond whether or not Simpson is on the field. Losing Henry killed the passing offense. Combined with lack of creativity on offense.

For three years “Slim” was a 9-guy. All he ran were 9 routes because that’s all he could do. Carson still was able to use him. For four years Devery Henderson was essentially the same thing. Drew was still able to use him.
Find a guy who can run, team him to run nines, and put his butt on the field. Even if that’s all he can run he’s better than nothing. Heck even if it doesn’t work at least it shows you are TRYING.
Peko
Peko is our Troy Palomalou, it seems we can’t win without him.

MB is going to step in now! There will be a change this week,
just watch and see. I’m not saying that Simpson is going to play but…….
Simpson is a bust
there is no other explanation. He must be dumber than a stick. Cannot even figure out how to get in there and run the streak routes.
If he had any skills at all he’d be playing. Face it. Get over it. He’s never going to do anything in Cincy.

we'll just have to see if he is
Normally they don’t keep somebody for two tears and just sit him without giving him a shot in real game time before releasing him. Last year doesn’t count b/c of Carson being hurt and you can’t tell what kind of talent he is without a descent QB. And as for him being dumb and not knowing plays and routes, you don’t know that for a fact. Who the hell gave you that information? Remember the issue with Coffman, nobody knew.
They kept David Verser
around for four years and he had 23 receptions. And he was less of a bust than Simpson looks like so far, but he was a huge huge bust. First round pick, did nothing.

He had playing time too. They tried him out didn't they? Plus he was a First round pick and had a big signing bonus
that Mikey wasn’t just going to give up on. Big difference here. 2nd rond picks do not have money leverage that 1st rounders do, in Owners eyes. Why keep him on the roster this long. They know if he’s going to make it or not, C’mon man!! Teams release 2nd rounders a lot more than thought of.
Marvin Lewis is a pussy
Going for the field goal instead of the touchdown was typical Marvin pussy football. He plays to not lose, not to win. We’re never going anywhere with him and/or Palmer/Bratkowski. We’re fucked until either of them leaves.

well it is better than the alternative,
I don’t know if you remember the 90’s. They were way worse than this. And by the way the early 00’s were bad too. We have Mikey to thank for the memories and as long as we are mediocre, putting money in his pocket, well it doesn’t matter anyway. Mikey and family are here to stay for another 21 years. Get the FU#$ over it or cheer for the Stoolers. I feel your pain bro! Just cross your fingers and hope things change like long time fans have been doing for years.. It sucks!
I'm never getting the fuck over it until I see results, bro
If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't
good luck with it then,
Hopefully your not waitng another 19 years. That’s a long time to wait with all that shit built up inside you.
There's more to life than football. That shit doesn't account for that much. So I'm fine, but thanks for caring.
If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't
Amen
The 90’s were torture to watch to say the least. I want results too, but 09 is a lightning in a bottle season. 2010 will most likely be a rebuilding year unless we keep Zimmer.

I agree with you on ML
I agree that going for the FG down 16 in the 4th was a pussy move. I’ll go even further and say that punting on 4th and 3 down 13 with 6 minutes left in the game was even more of a pussy move. I also have to agree with WHYUS? and say that it is better than the 90’s. The 90’s tested this fanbase and our staying power like no other decade. I also agree that as long as Lewis is our HC, we’re not gonna be anything more than a one and done team. Unless we get a creative/Aggressive OC who doesn’t let up once we’re up two scores
As for Palmer, I like the guy and the memories of him are mostly good. But he is really starting to turn into exactly what I feared he was, the next coming of Drew Bledsoe. He hasn’t been the same since getting hurt in 05, and then again last year.

Simpson
Maybe they are saving him for the playoffs so they can “Unleash Hell” on their opponents! Think about it, no game film other than the one reception for two yards. I have a feeling this guy is not smart enough to find the home teams locker room versus the visitors.
