Ben Watson

He is a free agent after the season end. How about a hell ye to seeing Ben Watson in stripes next year. True he won't block like Reggy Kelly but he sure will give Palmer somebody to dump it off to. And for that matter who wants to see Shawn Merriman in Stripes. True he is a 3-4 linebacker but I am sure Zimmer could find a way to make it work, he did put us in the top 10 in defense.

Who Dey!!!

That is only a maybe

Given the nature of the injury(Achilles) and Reggie Kelly’s Age(33 at the start of next season) I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of expanding the TE position through the draft/free agency.

I’d be for signing Fasano or Watson, not so much for LJ Smith, but McMichael could be likely given MB’s history of signing troubled players for cheap.

Ben Watson Struggles

to read coverages, find soft spots in zones, and run hot routes. But hes an atheletic freak

if an athletic freak is all you need

maybe we can convert michael johnson to TE.

where have i heard this idea before. defensive lineman to TE? hmmmmm

i dont agree with a TE

we drafted one of the best TE out of college in Coffman. yes, his blocking is questionable, but Reggie Kelly is an elite blocking TE and could teach Coffman the strings,
Merrimans a stretch Mike Brown isnt known for big Free Agent signings, and Shawn may be the biggest name out there, it would help out the D though…

Merriman

Merriman has not been the same since his injury, I would pass on him.

don't know what ya got...

never thought I would say this, but I miss Kelly. In retrospect he was a big part of this team’s offense. Great blocker, not a real threat to get open, but he caught the football when it was thrown to him. that being said, he was not a complete TE. the great teams all have great TEs. We took the best TE in the draft and he couldn’t get on the field. that should say more about that TE draft class than anything eles. I hope Kelly makes it back but I’m not betting on it. they need to do something. go after watson.

Watson isn’t as consistent as I would like, but he’s (obviously) better than anything the Bengals have currently available. It just comes down to whether Kelly will be back to act as an extra tackle and, more importantly, if they think Coffman will be ready to play next year.
