Chris Crocker in protective boot, could miss several weeks

Bengals safety Chris Crocker will miss Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers, says head coach Marvin Lewis. Crocker missed practice last Wednesday and Thursday before putting in limited work on Friday. He was listed as questionable, but did play against the Minnesota Vikings until he was carted off in the second quarter. Tom Nelson replaced Crocker and recorded four tackles on defense.

Joe Reedy writes that the injury could keep Crocker out for "longer than the Chargers game, but it is not believed to be a season-ending injury." Lewis said that Crocker is in a protective boot "to take the strain off the ankle right now."

Domata Peko is already out and Lewis believes that running back Bernard Scott will have an "opportunity" to return against the Chargers.
