Chargers have 21st ranked rush defense, we are nothing without Cedric Benson

Now this is a game you give the ball to Cedric benson 35 times! Against the Vikings was a game that we should have thrown it more than 25 times with their 4th ranked rush defense, but Benson still had a decent day 96 yards on 16 carries, given half of that was on a 42 yard rush. But Brat says that we are going to come out throwing this week? That is the problem with this guy, he doesn't exploit the weaknesses of the defense (like I pointed out in my last fanpost). We should still mix it up though, we cant be so predictable, mix in a little play-action on first and second downs and run out of passing formations. I'm hoping Brat will get it right this time, but given his recent history, I seriously doubt that will be the case.

I have this feeling..

Brat wakes up every morning to the same song on his 1945 radio Mike Brown gave him. He goes downstairs and drinks exactly one cup of coffee from his “#1 OC” mug and hits the shower. Shampoo first, then conditioner. He follows the same routine every morning and nothing ever changes..

He approaches his job the same way. We run out of run formations until we HAVE to pass. Then we show up with three wideouts and Leonard in the backfield. I get the awesomeness of lining up and running the ball even when everyone watching knows we are running and still getting 4 yards out of the play. I get it. But maybe we could get 6 if we spread out the defense. I just do not understand why we follow the same pattern game after game. I mean, look at THE touchdown last week. A beautiful fake reverse play which gave Ocho an easy untouched run into the endzone. When we take the time to draw up plays that are different, look how effective they are. Remember in the beginning of the season when we ran the fake punt twice, both being successful. Where are our testicles?!? I just do not get why we still are running the same five plays over and over again. Good god in heaven it makes me so upset. Design plays that work, ITS YOUR JOB!! I hope and pray he’s fired right after our last game.. and I hope Lippencott does it with his khaki shorts pulled up to his nipples.

Okay, I feel a little better. Let me just leave my rant with one comparison of what I am talking about. Watching Brat direct our offense is like giving a kid one of those huge 215 color crayon sets and watching them only use six of the crayons. At some point you have to drag out the “Fire Hydrant Red”.. just to see what color it is right??

The Chargers have covered up the weak running game by scoring points early and often against everyone. The plan to run Benson 35 times only works if the defense can keep Cincy in the game.

which, with two exceptions, has been the defense’s modus operandi this season. i don’t know what’ll happen, honestly, but i am looking forward to what i expect to be an exciting game. but i do think the best performance from a running back will be on the side of the boys in stripes.
