Chat Chiefs with Arrowhead Pride

Hey guys Tomahawk44 here. First of all I want to tell you all sorry for your loss. RIP Chris Henry. The game on Sunday could be interesting seenig how much LJ plays. The Chiefs will be coming to Cincy after a 3 game homestand that we dropped all three games. Dwayne Bowe is now back in uniform getting to play and Charles has been able to get the ball moving on the ground. He has a chance of hitting 1,000 yards rushing after getting the starting nod after LJ was released. I will be over here to answer any questions you have about the Chiefs as will more of the other APers. Feel free to shoot away guys.

Do you think LJ's comments he made about this game after signing with us

Have been posted in the KC locker room?

Slim 15, you will be missed. RIP Chris Henry

Im going to say yes

I know Haley posted a sign in the locker room after his Twitter incident about growing up and being a professional so I would say Haley will use this to his advantage and our horrible run defense can atleast step it up for one game

Umm yes sir. I was wondering if I should have eaten the ice in the Arrowhead bathroom stalls?

I mean my breath is okay and all but I have this rash in my mouth now.

Also, is Haley bi-polar? or bi-s******** ( don’t want to get banned already)

WHAT UP TT?

Listen...Charles will show LJ why he is the starter...

but we probably(most likely) lose. Even if you are 0-3 against the AFC West.

How can we beat a team that shows purpose while ours shows doubt?

Believe me, as Bengals fans, we don't believe they'll win a game until they actually win the game.

Based on KC’s win over Pittsburgh, I’m not taking anything for granted.

KC's run defense struggles...

The Bengals pride themselves on being physical in the run game, using unbalanced lines with a rather (ahem) rotund FB lead blocking. Is KC’s problem stopping the run a scheme-thing (bad defensive calls), an execution thing (poor tackling), or a physical thing (DLs and LBs getting blocked out of the hole)?

Try all of the above.

Against Cleveland

it was a physical thing. They said after the game that they new KC was good at getting to the edges and spreading the plays out, so they went for the weakness, right up the gut.

"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."

Bengals win 40-10

Charles runs for 100+ yards and 1 TD but it doesnt matter because the D will allow Benson, Johnson, and any other person who can fit into some pads run on us for over 400 yards while Carson Palmer watches from the sidelines because they decided he needs to be inactive and not strain himself

Run Defense

Tomahawk, thanks for the info, I wonder if the coaches of our teams look at these posts for help with game planning, I would if I were Bratkowski because he doesnt have a clue otherwise. I dont understand how the bengals can have sooooo much talent but cant seem to get a gameplan together that takes advantage of our weapons. It seems that Brat is sandbagging sometimes. The Bengals should be able to run it this weekend, BUT as a previous post stated, the Cheifs have beaten some good teams and have not really been out of most of their games this year. I was wondering if the Cheifs fans can give us some insight as to what their team is playing for right now. Usually its the Bengals who are trying to play spoiler at the end of the season so we are in very unfamiliar territory right now. If I am the Bengals I would be thinking about how to get LJ involved early along with Benson, Maybe in the same backfiedld to confuse the D. Just a thought.

by BigJade1 on Dec 22, 2009 9:45 AM EST reply actions

No prob BigJade

I would say the Chiefs are playing for respect, for their jobs, to beat up LJ,get momentum into the offseason and my favorite if it all falls right to keep the Broncos out of the playoffs if the lose this weekend to the Eagles. Saying that its going to be weird not playing you guys next year after playing you guys the last few years…

by tomahawk44 on Dec 22, 2009 9:49 AM EST up reply actions

Having LJ in would probably be perfect bait for a gameplan

I think he would still get some yardage overall, but you know he will have a big target on his helmet for this game.

Even Bratkowski, the offensive game planning genius that he is, should be able to use that for some interesting play calling for big gains. Well, hmm…, can someone email this to him?

Hey tomahawk

Seeing as how the Always hated Steelers got beat by you folks, what were your keys to victory over the steelers and what do the Bengals need to do to avoid another upset?

by The Dealio on Dec 22, 2009 2:30 PM EST reply actions

Dont turn the ball over and special teams

If it wasnt for Charles kick return for a TD and Studebakers two interceptions we wouldnt of won that game

by tomahawk44 on Dec 22, 2009 4:03 PM EST up reply actions

Opportunistic defense and special teams won the game.

That coupled with a great 4th quarter/overtime from our offense. To ensure you guys win the game, run run run the ball. We can’t seem to stop anyone lately. Don’t do anything really stupid to give it away and you should have no problem.

By not doing anything stupid to give it away

That means we should not throw to Coats or JJ.

question 2

With the emergence of Jamaal Charles as the feature back, will his special teams role diminish?

Slim 15, you will be missed. RIP Chris Henry

by Danimal, Destroyer of Worlds on Dec 23, 2009 1:03 PM EST up reply actions

Yes

Jamaal hasnt seen many returns since hes taken over. He only had one return last week. We had Bradley returning kicks but as of yesterday he is no longer a Chief after being cut. My guess would be either Quienten Lawrence or Lance Long back there returning kicks again. On a side note we also signed two PS players today in Chandler Williams and Logan Payne but I seriously doubt either will play Sunday.

by tomahawk44 on Dec 23, 2009 1:08 PM EST up reply actions

Lawrence

since JC’s been handling the ground game we’ve tried a couple ppl out at returns, mark bradley i probably saw the most, but he was cut so I think Quintin Lawrence should be back there for most the kicks. he’s a very fast WR with unproven hands.

Young, dope & flashy.

I've got a Cincy question

All your games have been low scoring except when you put up 45 on the Bears, and there have been a lot of close games. Is that due to game plan? Good defense? or less than stellar offense?

"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."

by cpa913 on Dec 23, 2009 6:16 PM EST reply actions

All of the above...

Even though the game planning on a lot of the games sucked, we pulled some of the games out with a win. The game plan was to run, run, run and eat the clock. It worked except for the Raiders game. That was due to less than stellar offense. Penalties, fumbles and bad decisions by Carson and the BRAINS OF THE OPERATION Bobby Brat (OC). Seems like when we us the run, run, run the ball down your throat tactic, we have all of the above. Then we are the CARDIAC CATS. The OC seems like he can’t adjust to the timing of the game and then Carson gets confused. That is when the defense takes over.

by WHYUS!! on Dec 24, 2009 8:25 AM EST up reply actions

Chiefs used to be that way under Marty Schottenheimer

Every game was exciting, because they were all close. It was fun to watch the defense, but frustrating to watch the offense. We called it “Marty Ball” which became a bad word since it never worked in the playoffs.

Hope it works better for Cincy. What’s Ocho Cinco got planned for this week? He’s always fun!

"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."

by cpa913 on Dec 24, 2009 9:19 AM EST up reply actions

I remember "Marty Ball" and

I hope that isn’t what is store for us. With the talent we have on this team, it’s unbelievable that we can’t be more of a dominant force on offense. Carson can really throw the ball as you saw against the Bolts and we can run the ball too. They just can’t adjust to the timing of the game to combine the two. We are one dimensional each way and need to put the two together. Ocho isn’t really saying anything this week, that I’ve heard of.

by WHYUS!! on Dec 24, 2009 9:35 AM EST up reply actions

Bengals Offense should look good this week

We tend to stop people you’ve heard of, though. Who’s your 3rd team backup waterboy? He’ll rush for 300 yards this week. That’s how it’s been going for the Chiefs.

"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."

What have the Bengals been playing like through the whole game?

Because the Chiefs can’t seem to shut anybody down in the first half. If we’re within two scores at halftime and Cassel’s having a relatively good game, I’d be worried about letting him step in because he can muster up some good late drives. But then again, the Bengals are one of the top defenses we’ll be playing against this season (5th against the run, 4th against the pass). Are your safeties playing well? God forbid if one of our receivers could “catch the f***ing ball.” I see Charles getting stopped short on most runs and screens a couple yards past the LOS at best, assuming a solid secondary that anticipates a run-heavy offense

by Sam D on Dec 23, 2009 7:45 PM EST reply actions

From what I read and saw

The Bengals organization did a nice job on the sendoff for Chris Henry. You guys also handled the blog well the day the news broke, my hat is off to you. :)

Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!

I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

are the drops as bad as they seem?

Watching the Browns game, I noticed a LOT of dropped passes. Has this been a big issue all year?

by Mojokong on Dec 24, 2009 6:16 PM EST reply actions

yeah thats to say the least

we are on pace to have the most dropped passes ever. All this after we set the record for the least sacks ever last year…

by tomahawk44 on Dec 24, 2009 8:05 PM EST up reply actions

It has been terrible...

It was not misleading at all. It has definitely given those who hate Cassel (for whatever reason) a lot of fuel. There is little to no perspective in the criticism of Cassel. He has not been perfect but he is obviously getting no help. Without the drops we would have a few more wins.
