Palmer should take every snap Sunday...Jordan Palmer.
Andre Smith, Jerome Simpson, Larry Johnson, Shaun Smith and the team's tackling dummies should all start. I would be happy to take a meaningless loss to screw over the Steelers. Not that I'm afraid of them but any division game would be the most dangerous. Plus if the jets win and we have the 4 seed, we probably host them a week later. Nothing like a free scrimage to get ready for the first round of the tourney. Did I mention it would be another chance to screw the Steelers? Besides, how cool will it be to watch that replay of Coach Ryan saying he is "obviouosly out of the playoffs" another 3000 times. The best part is the league pushed this game back to a night game. By then we will know if a win helps us in any way. My guess is it won't and we get that onfield bye week. Plus, we get to screw the Steelers.

Everybody says we should try to win the Jets game in order to compete for the 3 seed so if we win the first playoff game we go to SD instead of Indy. Let’s look at it like this- if we want to go to the Super Bowl we’re probably going to have to play Indy sooner or later… why not sooner? In my opinion, the Chargers are playing JUST as good as the Colts right now. Plus, it would be AWESOME to contribute even further in knocking the Steelers out of the playoff picture (in addition to sweeping them)
Now, as I understand it if the Ravens win on Sunday we will be playing them in the first playoff game. Am I wrong?

I think that depends on if the Jets beat us and if Denver wins.
Right now as it stands Denver and the Jets are the wild cards. If they both lose and the Ravens win the Ravens beat the Stoolers out of one of those spots. Then it all depends on the other 8-7 teams and if they win or not, if the Stoolers get in.

Before the Jets/Bengals
everyone will know if moving up to the 3rd seed is even possible. If the Patriots win earlier in the day, it will be impossible for the Bengals to be anything other than the 4th seed. Then do the Bengals still go balls out and try to win a game that means absolutely nothing? Probably not.

Actually there are some screwy scenarios where the Bengals could recapture the strength of victory tiebreaker, even though it’s not likely. I don’t forsee Houston lying down for this game though.

Chicago helped that a bit last night by beating the vikings

it is interesting that in each conference, back-to-back matchups could take place with the Bengals vs Jets, and Eagles vs Cowboys.
Nothing like a free scrimage to get ready for the first round of the tourney.
This is a very good point, should the cards lay this way, we would have an up close and personal view of our Wild Card opponent. With that said, it would make sense to play the starters in the first half, for the on-field familiarity of opponent. Plus, it forces the Jets to open their playbook to a certain extent. If the Bengals hit the field with the appearance of actually trying, it would mess with the Jets psyche and force them put everything on the line in realizing they aren’t going to be served a victory on a platter.
Yeah, and there’s this:
Plus, we get to screw the Steelers.

true that
Good point. The starters should get some snaps just to get the feel of what the Jets do and don’t do well. But after half time I want to see some future grocery baggers out there. I certainly don’t want anyone questionable to suit up (Peko, Crocker).

I love the Screwing the Steelers part
but if we are Super Bowl worthy then I don’t care who or where we play. 3 or 4 seed make no difference. I would love for them to open up their offense- using O’Sullivan, Simpson, Coles(revenge for him), Johnson, Andre Smith, and maybe even Fui. Show a bunch of plays they would never run in the Playoffs just so the JETS’s have gobs of film to look at.
What I think we’re going to see however is all the healthy starters in the first half, pounding the running game. The worries are the Jets blitzing and killing Palmer on 3rd downs with are standard run, run, pass scheme.

For the sake of argument
Don’t we want to be playing better football and don’t we need to start playing like a playoff team and get in some kind of rhythm? Considering how poorly we played against KC on offense (defense played superbly) I think we need our starters to at least play a half and put some points on the board. Right now nobody is taking us seriously (which might not be a bad thing), but it would be nice to get a little respect heading into the playoffs.

That was pretty thorough. We’ll obviously be cheering for a NE loss so we have a reason to play come Sunday night.

not a “NFL out to screw Steelers” like some posts.

I say 3 seed matters!!!!!
Let’s host whoever and then head to SD, where we will win this time with Peko and Crocker back. (They are much more important than Rey at this point).
More importantly the achilles heel of Indy comes to their house, yes the Pats… if this holds true,
WE HOST THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP!
That is why we play like hell for the 3 seed if we have a chance (AJ beats NE).

I dunno about NE being Indy's Achilles heel
Philip Rivers is 3-1 against them in the playoffs. That said, I want the Texans to win so we actually have something to play for.
Slim 15, you will be missed. RIP Chris Henry

Ok here's the deal
We will see if NE wins earlier in the day. If they win THERE IS NO REASON to play the starters. Do we really want to risk injuries for the sake of momentum? The last thing we need is Palmer going down in a meaningless game.

If NE wins, then the starters should sit
as stated earlier, play the bench. We have good backup depth, so get them out there early and often. for one would like to actually watch Jordan play some, just cause I think he’s a slug.

Hey! Jordan Palmer at least deserves to be called a leach. I think he’s earned that title.
