I must be seeing things
Yeah, I must be seeing things because I thought I saw overthrows from Palmer (an underthrow to Caldwell), bad blitz pickups that were telegraphed, and two interceptions thrown by him. Palmer did show some bright spots vs the Lions with the deep ball to Ocho for the TD and some other nice throws. Palmer just seems to be out of sink with his receivers this season, Benson, Leonard, and his receivers seem to bail him out alot with great catches and spectacular runs. It just frustrates me to see Palmer struggle mainly because we know his potential. If this team wants to go far in the playoffs Palmer needs to step his game up and the O-line needs to quit with the freaking penalties. Again I must be seeing things because some of the guys saw an MVP performance against the Lions. Im just wondering if anybody else saw these things as well or it was just me? Palmer.....Step Ya Game Up!!

Just added the pictures for fun :)

I didn't think it was true
But I think we really miss having Hoosh and Henry. L. Coles hasn’t been good, he looked plain bad today against the lions. Purify hasn’t stepped up in the passing game either… Oh yea, and don’t forget yet another Dan Coats drop. Palmer has definitely had some bad throws, but our Wide Receivers definitely need an upgrade (except Ocho)
He needs the Tom Cable treatment.

On a side note
As off rhythm as Carson has been, we could have been up 27-7 if Coats could just hold on to the ball. That had to be at least the 3rd TD pass dropped by him this year.
That chick is hot, though.
Also like the Air Leonard pic. Who says white men can’t jump?

It all comes down to, he is making 100 million dollars
he is making more than Brady, more than Manning, More than Brees. He needs to play like it!!! Not paying him that kind of money to be mediocre
CB85......Collaros for Heisman
bench him for a 1/4, or even a couple of series, make a statement.
Maybe that will spark something b/c you are correct, he has been throwing like shit. If you bench him, maybe that will also light a fire under the rest of the guys too. Benching your franchise QB. hemmmmmm!! They can watch and learn. He gets paid like a premier QB, so he needs to play like one. Great QBs adjust and can throw even when we run the ball. That is to all the fans that use this as an excuse for Carson. Wake up people! And I am talking about the last few games not the whole season.
Aer you kidding?
No ones going to bench Carson. Not gonna happen.
I’m not making excuses for him, and I certainly think he’s been off and not playing like he should be. But he’s not gonna get benched.
He knows he’s been off. He has also had some help in looking bad, from Coles and Coats, to some poor O line pass protection and pentalties. But yeah, he’s been off.
But he has been scrambling around way more than any other season, and making some good plays to go along with the bad. He just needs to stop making those horrible decisions and passes.
A 9-3 team leading their division by 3.5 games benching their QB?
That is insane. Look, I know he hasn’t been the sharpest lately but let get serious. Do you think we would be better off with out him? If we were starting O’Sulivan, we would probably be 5-7 right now.

I was just making a suggestion b/c that is what Paul Brown used to do....
Like Josh Kirkendall said before, Paul Brown used to sit players for a series or two, so they could understand the game they were playing better. I remember this. Then they would come in and play better. These games would have been a lot easier to do this with Carson. Probably not anymore b/c of the competition and the situations we are getting ready to face. It’s a lot different now. But they probably should’ve sat a couple more players, (Coles & Coats) at different times of course . And I didn’t say bench, for the whole game, that would be insane!
Well, Paul Brown didn't have instant on Demand Video and photos to look at either.
If you want to bench Carson for a couple of series, you’ll end up pissing away a couple of shots at touchdowns. If you want him to watch the offense from the sidelines coaches perspective, then have Brat find a waterboy to run a video camera and hook it up to a 40" Sony Bravio with 1080p when the Defense is in. It’s like freakin being there! I know, I just got one.
by UpStateMike on Dec 7, 2009 9:10 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
Brat is not smart enough to do that for Carson
Send him your Sony with a PS letter. Cause he can’t have my 65’ 1080p DLP. I’m to busy standing in the middle of the field. Damn, I almost got hit by Flaccos pass!
Palmer will be fine
Although I don’t think he is playing as well as he could be. His elbow injury last year I think has taken some zip and acuracy away from him-maybe his mechanics are off. The other issue is the O-line; especially the right side. Although they can maul people in the run game they gear themselves up for running too much. I don’t see them easily transitioning in the middle of a series between run and pass. When the O-line is in the hurry-up spread and the know they are pass protecting they are better.
I guess I’m trying to state the obvious. When Palmer has the time and a pocket to throw out of he’s realy good. Otherwise, right now he’s inconsistent without time.
I started barking up this tree after last week..
his performance today confirms my fears. The god of golden arms has forgotten how to throw. That or we officially need to find better weapons for Carson(-Chad), however I’d still suggest that no matter who Carson throws the ball to they still have to have a catchable ball thrown to their hands in order to make a play. By the way, was it really necessary to run Benson 36 times? Didn’t we just sign another power back in LJ who could possibly take some of that load?

Yea we was wondering where LJ was in garbage time
get Benson his 100, then put in Larry IMO

Why get Benson his 100 then pull him?
I don’t see the need in that. It’s just an arbitrary stat. Ced carried way too much today. Should have gotten a max of 22 carries regardless of his yardage numbers. We have great depth at RB now, but it won’t matter if it isn’t used.
by AB on Dec 6, 2009 7:46 PM EST up reply actions
True
Gotta keep the workhorse fresh for the playoff run. We play him in the next two weeks, give him around 15-20 carries, give some to Johnson, bring in Leonard on third downs. Rest Ced against KC(and make Johnson the feature back in that game, with Leonard/Scott spelling LJ) and the Jets.
by Danimal, Destroyer of Worlds on Dec 6, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions
Get his 100
then Let Larry carry have a nice day

he was at 98 yards
one more carry isnt bad you act like it took 12 more carries to get the bill

by TennBengalfan on Dec 6, 2009 7:57 PM EST up reply actions
He broke 100 on his 30th carry
Which is more carries than I would have liked him to have gotten. Like 10 more. And LJ only had two carries. Spread that workload around or we’re gonna break Ced again.

ok my friend you can argue with somebody else
you obviously dont get what I said when “We was wondering where Larry was in garbage time” so i dont get why you want to argue a point i already made :)

i'm wondering how....
we had the 2nd seed before today, then after the game we are in the 3rd seed?
CB85......Collaros for Heisman
San Diego beat an AFC team
and we beat an NFC team, so they have a better record in the AFC which would be the tiebreaker if the season ended today. However, since we will play them head to head, that will be the tiebreaker and conference record won’t matter. It’s really a tie right now and the current tiebreakers don’t matter.

Weird
NFL is on SD and Rivers’ Jock. That’s my theory.

Carson
I have to agree, Carson needs to step up in a big way. He gets paid more than any of the Manning Brothers or Drew Brees. He is playing in that second level of QB,s and at times he,s slipping into that third level. Today was just crazy with what happened to him today. He made himself look mediocre at best. He didnt recognize blitz packages, he just didnt have that feel for the game. All I can say is that all I can see now is Jared Allen eating up the left side and knocking Carson into the next century. Alot of the things looked to me that it was mental more than physical. He just seems to forget his checks and balances and if you forget those you become overdrawn.
by James Schmid the great on Dec 6, 2009 8:55 PM EST reply actions
wow I agree
it does seem more mental than anything. I dont know what his problem is on sunday that blits from the corner that caused the fumble was saw by everybody watching the game and in the game except palmer. he has got to get his head into the game or we will not make it far in the playoffs at all and maybe not even make the playoffs….we havent clinched a spot yet

I think you are all missing the silver lining.
Carson Palmer is not throwing the ball well because we are a heavy run-first team. He doesn’t have enough time in a game to get his rhythm going. All season long we’ve been a run-first team, which hasn’t allowed him to get his mojo on this season.
Don’t compare this guy to Manning or Brady because he’s just not that talented. He’s way overpaid, so don’t expect him to play up to his salary. And on a final note, we lack weapons for him, point blank.
If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't
yea, I agree.
(see above for my take on it)
People responded more to Benson getting 36 carries, which is just ridiculous. We need someone else to learn how to catch or possibly begin trying to throw to our RB’s. There just seems to be a leak in the offensive pool, who is the duct tape? Simpson? Coffman? There has to be a way to get more weapons on the field.
by 80%OFTHETIMEIMRIGHTEVERYTIME on Dec 7, 2009 12:38 PM EST up reply actions
he is way over paid and the thing about Benson is ridiculous I agree
the lack of weopons is idk, kinda a reason but Caldwell, Ocho, Benson and Leonard are pretty good weapons in my opinion. the loss of Slim really hurt him I think. But the overthrows and underthrows is his fault, he is an NFL quarterback he has to make those throws under pressure or not. The blitz pickups he has to look around before the snap and reconize the blitz and get the ball out of his hand faster, but he could use some help if someone else sees those they need to holler our corner blitz, safety blitz, etc… its just frustrating to me because we all know he is better than the way he is playing. i dont know if the injuries have made him a little skiddish or what, but there is something wrong….he just isn’t playing the way he used to. But Coles has been playing terrible and i dont think Palmer has much confidence in him which hurts, I think we need to see some Simpson and Coffman.

We definitely need a change and bringing in Simpson and Coffman
couldn’t hurt any at all. Try something b/c the D is getting banged up and we are going to need the O to step up. With the current O, they are not going to be able to sustain what they are doing for the rest of the year. We need balance.
I agree
the Defense cant keep bailing us out, especially with Peko out and the next two weeks we got 3 great backs to face (Adrian Peterson, then Sproles and LT). If Crocker is out that leaves an open spot to suit up Simpson or Coffman. I have faith in Nelson to backup Crocker, and Purify hasnt been the deep threat that Simpson could be. Plus OMG Coffman could at least catch the balls that Coats drops!!
