UPDATE: Coats' Deal Worth $460,000 for one year
[Kirkendall Update: The deal is for one year, worth $460,000]
The Bengals will be keeping fullback Daniel Coats around for a few more seasons after he was re-signed earlier today. Coats is primarily a blocking fullback, but he has been an effective outlet for Bengals quarterbacks. In two seasons, Coats has 14 catches for 141 yards; meaning, while he may not be a Moose Johnston-type of threat, defenses need to be aware of his pass-catching ability when comes out of the backfield.
Perhaps Coats returning will make Cedric Benson's decision a little easier. Of course, that all depends on whether or not the Bengals even make Benson an offer.
