Derrick Ward leaves Cincinnati, heading to Denver Broncos for a visit

We had assumed that Denver wasn't a team on Derrick's Ward radar because of their quick acquisitions of J.J. Arrington and Correll Buckhalter. However, that's not true. Mike Florio writes that according to a league source, Ward is now making his way to Denver for a visit.

While it's not indicative of what happened in Cincinnati, we have a pretty good guess. Ward didn't like the deal that Cincinnati may have offered (we're not sure that one was made), and decided to explore other options. This could also be an indicator that the Bengals still feel optimistic about re-signing Cedric Benson, and thus waiting before making an offer to Ward.

has anyone heard anything about Benson visiting with other teams?

RE:

That’s the thing. Not a word.

However, with Ward leaving to visit Denver, it could be a strong indication that their close with Benson. It could also mean that Ward laughed at the Bengals offer. Which would also mean, the Bengals would push harder re-signing Benson. Either way, it’s my guess that Benson is close.

Benson will have to take some time off from his work as the Tate’s butler/Governor’s aide-de-camp to sign his deal. Meanwhile, Mike Brown still thinks by waving his arms and snapping his fingers, he can make himself invisible.

im sure Ward is getting low ball offers form everyone so far, much like T.J.
so hopefully he goes to the Denver visit and they already have signed 2 Rbs so they offer him a low amount. Then he thinks twice about the offer the Bengals submitted. if they did give him an offer

how funny is it that ray lewis held out for mega bucks but no one came knocking…if i were Ozzie, I’d lower my offer to him..lol. kind of backfired on him as he probably hoped dallas/jets would start a bidding war for him (at 34).
