Center Alex Mack had sensational workout; Oakland Raiders drafting Mack with seventh pick?
Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable stopped by Cal's Pro Day on Wednesday to check out prospect Alex Mack. When Cable was asked about drafting Mack seventh in the NFL draft, the spot behind the Bengals, Cable said, "Not if you need one, that's the bottom line."
Cable went on to "identify" the offensive line as an area for improvement, which could include a left tackle. So Cable knows that the Bengals are looking at a center, hints that they might take a center to force the Bengals hand. Cat and mouse. Silly. Silly. The Bengals wouldn't fall for such a tactic.
There were 50 representatives from thirty teams, including six offensive line coaches at Cal on Wednesday, watching Mack have a sensational workout, writes Gil Brandt.

Just how does a center go about having a “sensational workout”? When the QB is under him, does the ball come back with the day’s paper and a complementary, continental breakfast? Is the shotgun snap a perfect spiral that always hits the hands with the laces at the fingertips? Does he have the courtesy not to leave a plumber’s crack exposed when he bends over- unless he’s working with Jeff Garcia?
Yeah, yeah, we know, Alex Mack, superstud center but, quite frankly, I’d take Max Unger, who can also play both guard and tackle- at Pac-10 starting level, over him. I might even take Eric Wood over him. And, though I wouldn’t take Antoine Caldwell or A. Q. Shipley over him, necessarily, I’d be content with either. Of course, given what we have, I’d be content with the steroid-preserved corpse of Mike Webster.
Yes, play your games Mssrs. Cable and Davis….

Center with the 7th Pick
The only way Oakland drafts a center with the 7th pick is if Al Davis kicks the bucket before the draft. JUST WIN BABY!!!!
