Bengals in the mix for Laveranues Coles?
While the Bengals, Vikings and Seahawks sit idle for T.J. Houshmandzadeh to pick a team, like Arnold Schwarzenegger determining the fate of Springfield encouraged by the narcissistic Russ Cargill, it's being reported that the Bengals have interest in Laveranues Coles. So much interest, that the Bengals are reportedly front runners.
The Buffalo Bills are attempting to bolster their sagging passing game by signing Laveranues Coles. Buffalo along with Miami were destinations Coles was supposed decide on, but reports out of Miami indicate the Dolphins are no longer interested.
However, Cincinnati, anticipating losing T.J. Houshmandzadeh, is emerging as a player for Coles’ services. A report from nfldraftbible.com states the Bengals are now interested.
The Bills are simply waiting on Coles, after the Dolphins decided not to go after the receiver. The added mix of Cincinnati could stall the signing with the Bills, but we're not sure how likely the Bengals are in the mix, as they idly around, twirling their thumbs, waiting on Houshmandzadeh.

What I see...
A 9-year NFL veteran. Old? He put up an average of 878 yards over the past 5 seasons, playing opposite Jerricho Cotchery of late, so it’s not like he was the only target! He’s played in all 16 games for seven out of his last 8 seasons (only appearing in 13 games as a rookie)…he’s appeared in 97% of the possible games his team’s been in over that 8-year stretch. 90+ catches in two of the last 5 seasons.
I’d take him, sure.
Money could be spent better in other places
While i like Coles and think he could thrive playing with Carson, the fact is that signing him will hamper the development of Simpson and Caldwell even more. We have 6 receivers under contract (Chad, Henry, Caldwell, Simpson, Chatman, and Holt). I would much rather throw money at a MLB (Ray Ray is still out there) than a WR given the bengals current depth chart.
RE: Holt never got tendered
He’s still a free agent, however, I wouldn’t put to rest of the Bengals signing him for roughly half a mil.
