Bengals sign Defensive Tackle Orien Harris and OLB Darryl Blackstock
One of the stories that we buried earlier today, meaning that it was written but not published yet (well, except for this sentence explaining that it's not published yet), is that the Bengals signed agreed to terms with defensive tackle Orien Harris. OK, so it doesn't have the same punch as the monitoring the Houshmandzadeh story, but it's nice to get back to business, right?
Harris was part of a defensive tackle rotation that included starters Domata Peko and John Thornton before Pat Sims made his way into the starting lineup. Recording 22 tackles, three hurries, Harris was an Exclusive Rights free agent, which means he only recorded two accrued seasons and no team could sign him away.
Defensive Tackles signed for 2009
- Domata Peko
- Pat Sims
- Jason Shirley
- Orien Harris
The Bengals also got Darryl Blackstock's signed to a one-year deal several days after coming to terms on a verbal agreement.
Our goal with this post, to get 100 "who cares" comments from 100 different people. And go.

As requested
Who cares.
Happier with adding depth than I am at the prospect of overpaying for Coles.

OMG!!!!
I just got a Bengal Boner!!! So I guess since we have NO center 1 Tackle and a bunch of scrubs there gonna teach Carson to be faster and scramble. The more we do nothing the more it looks like Beanie is gonna be a Bengal. Brown is going to draft him like someone said so he can get buckeye fans to buy tickets. Man or he is gonna sell the team! Who knows because without Harris we definitely would go 0-16. Championship is right baby. So Simpson better be a stud this year because were in trouble.

Trade chad
they should also trade chad so this team is even more helpless. what could be better then Henry the starting WR with Simpson, Caldwell and Holt backing him up?

who cares
Maybe Carl Pickens is still available?

Unless...
We magic up an entire offense and Palmer miraculously stays healthy with a rookie OL protecting him, I’m not ready to book my Superbowl tickets just yet.
Trading Chad is a year too late, unless someone overpays for damaged goods.
I would rather move on and close the door on the team that might have been than watch relics of it shuffle off into the distance.
btw I heard James Brooks was in Cincinnati for contract talks.

Who on GOD's Green Earth cares about this, anyway????
…well, you asked!

But seriously...
Okay, so I KNOW we’ve discussed this before: We already HAVE big money tied up in two defensive ends.
BUT…at least just to mention it and get it out of the way NOW…
Jason Taylor released by Redskins
Guys, I dunno…moving Robert Geathers back to OLB sounds pretty good if you’ve got Antwan Odom on one end and Jason Taylor on the other. Nobody’s got the cash for that, though, hmm?

I thought about Taylor, but he has commitment issues, like he doesn’t want to go to training camp, and he doesn’t want to play too many running downs.
Ideally, we would be able to deal with that, and use his pass rush, but I think we need hungrier players. And maybe, getting rid of TJ is a step in the right direction

I care...
I’m the president of the Orien Harris fan club.
On second thought, who cares!

If Taylor can't be bothered
to turn up for 25 work out days to get $8.5 million, he’s pretty much not the person you would want to tutor younger players on the finer points of the game.
I suspect his head has been turned by his “successes” outside of the NFL.

I have never noticed this guy so it is a resounding “who cares.”

Not sure how this news relates to our future ability to protect Carson.
It does bring up whether we’re going to re-sign ace blogger, John Thornton?
Or how the Giants managed to lockdown both Chris Canty and Rocky Bernard without our lifting a finger?
Or what the futures of folks like Ray Lewis and Bernard Berrian might be?
Or how many of us will throw up in our mouths a little if we manage to lose out on both Benson and Derrick Ward and face the season with Chris Perry as our feature back?
Then again…
If we pencil in Big Whit at RT, Collins at LT, Nate Livings at RG and Bobbie at LG, we’re not only a center- and some miscellaneous depth, away from a decent O-line, we’re also relieved of the obligation to use 6 for an expensive OT.
If we do the right thing and ship Chad elsewhere, we could have both early and late first rounders along with the money to actually pay the picks. I could see our first three picks being Raji or Orakpo, Knowshon Moreno, and whichever center we prefer. Another route might be Crabtree, Brian Cushing, and a center. Or, going a little deeper, maybe Raji, Heywood-Bey, Pat White, and whichever of Woods, Luigs, or Caldwell are available in round three.

Nah Nah
we’ll draft Pat White to play QB
THEN WE WONT NEED A RUNNING BACK
Option B,
Trade nothing to Atlanta for Vick and we have the same scenario
….I must be dreaming

WHO CARES
I can not care anymore I mean what are the Brown$ doing beside taking our money and not giving a crap!

That's what hurts...
Because, for a couple of years there, it looked like they were actually trying. Surely to god they know how much revenue a successful team would be embraced (and spent on) by the fans.

Who cares
I care, when the Bengals put 1/2 a roster on IR each year, you need to know who the back ups are, and whether their hamstrings and ACLs are already bad or if the training stafff has to get working on that during OTAs.
