Bengals confirmed visit with tackle George Foster
You have to give the Bengals some credit. While the entire world stopped waiting for T.J. Houshmandzadeh to declare his allegiances, the Bengals were efforting to bring him back. Since then, the Bengals have openly brought guys in, signed several and solidified their roster.
On Thursday, the Bengals confirmed a visit with left tackle George Foster. A first round pick, twentieth selection by the Denver Broncos, Foster was the second offensive tackle taken in the 2003 NFL Draft -- the first was Jordan Gross. Still relatively young (he's 28), Foster joined the Lions in 2007 after a trade with Denver. He's played in 68 games and started 57.

Hope they sign him.
if they sign him they could potentially trade out of the 6th spot and pick up another 1st round pick. That means they could get Oher later in the round and also a very nice defensive player. see what Im saying?

It finally looks like the Bengals are making smart decisions in the off season. They are bringing in guys to fill holes in the roster. If they do sign them I don’t see why they wouldn’t be looking at USC’s Rey Maualuga or like Diesel2405 said there could be the possibilty of trading out of the #6 pick.

Smart decisions?
They’re only smart decisions if they work out and you take the right people. FA is for filling holes, draft is for building teams.
Getting veteran players under 30 is a step in the right direction certainly.
And I love the idea of trading down from the 6, just not sure Foster represents the ability to do so. As for a LB pairing of Maualuga and Rivers, that’s one that could go on for a decade. I like the idea of longevity and options for going into the draft, I think one major point as has been discussed is how much cap room we’ve got left.

If they trade down they won’t get Maualuga – he’ll be gone in the top 15 minimum. I’ve seen mock drafts that have him gone by 6. I don’t mind the idea of picking him up, but 1st round (especially top 10) LBers are always a bit of a gamble and we already have one on our hands. Not that I don’t think Rivers is a beast, just that I don’t know if they want to go that way a second straight year. If they stay at 6 they need to go OT, as unsexy as that is. I’ve seen people predicting they go DE, but we still have tons of money and years tied up in Geathers and Odom – there’s no way they’re giving up on either of them yet to pay big bucks for a 1st round end. I’d be all for trading down and aiming at Wells and a high-rated OT, and I’ve heard they really like Conor Barwin and he might be a better bargain at the top of the 2nd than someone like Lauranitas.
It’s shaping up to actually be a pretty interesting draft. They don’t really need to address skill positions except for RB and there are a lot of really good O-linemen out there. For the first time in years it’s the offense and not the defense that needs the most attention. I see them walking away with at least 3 O Linemen, 1-2 running backs, and some mid-late round defensive picks in the DE-LB range. Of course that can all get blown up depending who’s on the board where.

Ironic that George Foster may return to play for the team against which his cheap shot inspired the "George Foster Rule"

I like it. George Foster can also hit the long ball with that majestic black bat of his. I’m guessing he’s gained some weight.

Ha/Ha, good one jreilly...
I loved his black bats too. Quick question, Am I the only person that thought the Reds George Foster resembled a Black chinaman?

Yeah but as long as...
…they let him bring the bat on the field I think he’s good. I see Big Ben as the printer in “Office Space,” if you know what I mean…

George Foster
No one thinks it’s funny that we’ve got the potential to have a member of the Big Red Machine on board?

George Foster - Baseball Reference
It was only a metter of time before that happened…and yes, he did look awfully “Chinaman-like.”
“Though, dude, ‘Chinaman’ isn’t the proper nomanclature for Asian Americans.”
Anyone??
