Bengals release Dexter Jackson, three off-season roster players
In an expected move to free up cap space, and realistically no need for roster depth, the Bengals released Dexter Jackson on Friday, along with practice squad players guard James Blair, defensive end Victor DeGrate and cornerback Marcus Brown.
At safety, after Jackson's release, he Bengals now have six guys under roster.
- Chinedum Ndukwe
- Marvin White
- Chris Crocker
- Corey Lynch
- Kyries Hebert
- Mike Doss

Dexter Jackson
I always like DJ and thought he could have been a very good player for the Bengals. However, IMO this was a no brainer. The Bengals need to cut ties with the eternally injured players. That coupled with the young talent makes this an easy move.

That’s a pretty healthy looking safety roster- well, aside from the walking personal foul, M. Hebert. If Doss can return to that form he used to show as Bob Sanders’ running mate in Indy, we’re like the Giants with the D-Line.
Just an aside; are we gonna re-sign our favorite blogger, JT?

JT said on his blog – in a Q/A – that he has had a few offers around the league – nothing concrete – and that it isn’t likely he will return to the Bengals and if he doesn he had been told it won’t be as a back-up DE

Doss was solid
but he got beat out for his job in camp by a 6th round rookie (named Antonie Bethea who made the Pro Bowl as an alternate in his 2nd season). I was surprised that he hasn’t been able to stick anywhere.
