Andre Smith Visited The Bengals Today
We’ve been suggesting that the Cincinnati Bengals
might be inclined to take a chance on Alabama tackle Andre Smith with the sixth overall pick in the draft.
Though it remains to be seen whether they do, the Bengals are sufficiently interested in Smith to bring him to town for a pre-draft visit.
Per a league source, Smith finished his visit earlier today.
We’re told that Smith will meet next week with the 49ers, Eagles, Redskins, and Lions. He also has met with the Ravens.
After the 2008 regular season, Smith was viewed as potentially the first overall pick. His suspension from the Sugar Bowl was the first red flag. His nightmare at the Combine was the second. And his shirtless Jello run during the Alabama Pro Day workout was the third.
It now remains to be seen whether teams rely on game tape, or whether they get scared off by stuff unrelated to what he does between the white lines.
Given that the Bengals have ignored off-field issues as to plenty of other players in the past, we think they won’t hesitate to take Smith if he’s still on the board at No. 6.

Bring him on. I don’t consider a couple of publicity missteps- that can be attributed mostly to the immaturity of a 21-22 year old, to be character issues.
