Maualuga apologizes for being upset about being drafted in the second round
You have to give Rey Maualuga create. Once he learned how excited the Cincinnati Bengals fans were to have the Southern Cal linebacker, he showed remorse when it became known that he had dropped to the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
"I was upset, but that was the immature part of myself," he said. "I didn't think about the team and the fans and everybody out there that was ecstatic that I was here. I apologize for not being too happy then. I thank the fans for having me in open arms."
This came after a teleconference with over 5,000 season ticket holders in which Maualuga received the most questions. Maualuga figures to win a job at the strong outside linebacker slot while the incumbent middle linebacker, Dhani Jones, will stick in the middle. Jones. Keith Rivers. Maualuga. Fantastic.

Can
you really blame him? I don’t think it was anything directed towards the Cincinnati fans. But to be told again and again that you are going in the first round, to watch your two LB teamates go and to still be sitting there, it has to be frustrating. I would compare it to being told over and over again that you are going to be promoted at work, and then you get passed over by multiple people.
It's still a good season if we go 2-14 and beat the Steelers twice.
We understand Rey...
You were under appreciated and dissed just like the Bengals are. Now get ready to kick some serious butt for us…..Maualuga is destined to become an instant fan favorite

I can’t wait to see what Rey accomplishes on the field this year, it ios going to be fun to watch him. Everyone has to knkw though that he will probably cause some off fiels excitement as well, he’s just that kind of guy. Hopefully it won’t be anythimg major.
