ESPN's AFC North Blog
It's really been no secret that ESPN's AFC North blogger James Walker has limited his discussions about Cincinnati Bengals football to his Morning Takes and reader mailbags. In fact, the last Bengals-specific post was related to a question wondering if the Bengals waited too long on drafting a center; that was a week ago. That is if you don't include the change in kickoff time with the Bengals/Steelers game on September 27. The last 15 posts as of 5pm on Sunday May 3 are titled:
"Roethlisberger says he's healthy again"
"Steelers Day 3 minicamp notes"
"Morning take: Beck to join Ravens"
"Steelers Day 2 minicamp notes"
"Quick Browns note"
"Five questions with... Evander Hood"
"Walker's weekend mailbag"
"Steelers Day 1 minicamp notes"
"Ward will be happy to retire a Steeler"
"Expected first-round contracts"
"No Foote at minicamp"
"Live from Steelers camp"
"Morning Take" More roster moves"
"Thought of the Day finale"
"Scouts Inc. on Ravens' wide receivers"
Granted, he was in Pittsburgh for the Steelers minicamp this weekend. So maybe that's it. Then again, let's be honest and change it to the AFC North Teams Not Named Bengals blog.

And when he does write about the Bengals, it's typical conglomerate stuff.
“Character problems” this, “talent” that, a “sleeper” here, or a “year away” there. I’d think if you have a guy whose sole responsibility is to cover FOUR teams, he’d do a great job formulating original opinions and keeping a beat on all of them. Walker just does no work on the Bengals, it’s evident, and it’s shameful.
I think this is a problem with blogs generally. I went to a Michael Wilbon Q & A, and he just went off on bloggers as cowards who don’t do any of their own legwork or formulate opinions without gathering facts. Now, I don’t think that’s true of all bloggers, but Walker is a prime example.

Explain this crap, from last week.
I don’t speak “Douchebag,” so it is a little tough for me to understand, but I do detect a bit of sycophantic tripe….
“AFC North final say
Thanks for the good guesses throughout the week everyone, but here is what Harbaugh and Tomlin really said:
Harbaugh: You know why we both had stellar seasons, Mike?
Tomlin: Why is that?
Harbaugh: Because ESPN.com’s James Walker covers our teams. We weren’t nearly as good until he arrived.
Tomlin: Good point. He’s a great writer and a good-luck charm. I’m glad he’s riding with the AFC North."
What a twit.
