With Rod Hood Out Of The Mix Who Else Is Available For the Bengals Consider @ Nickel DB?
After the Bengals failed to sign Rod Hood, I decided to make a post showing which DBs are avaliable via Free Agency Lets take a look.. Let me know who you guys think the Bengals should go after.. The bad thing is most of the guys are good players, but they are mostly injury prone
1.Chris McAllister, 32, Walterfootball.com: "Chris McAlister is a risky signing because he has terrible knees. If he can stay healthy, he can be an upgrade. That's a huge "if," however."
2. Pacman Jones, 25, Has great talent, but cannot stay out of trouble highly unlikely Bengals will want to deal with this guy also could be a returner.
3.Mike McKenzie, 33, WalterFootball.com: "Mike McKenzie, 33 in April, missed nine games in 2008. He has a history of knee injuries."
4. Daven Holly, 27, WalterFootball: Daven Holly was slated to start at corner this season. However, he tore his ACL and MCL, and missed the entire year. Who knows if he'll be able to bounce back?
5. Reynaldo Hill, 27 WalterFootball: Reynaldo Hill is an effective corner when he's not hurt. Unfortunately, he's not healthy very often.
6.Travis Fisher, 29, "A one time starter who has lost a couple of steps, but could be very valuable at the nickel position with his experience"
7.Patrick Surtain, 33, "Obviously his once shutdown corner skills have deteriorated,no longer a starting CB, but he brings veteran leadership and could be a great fit at nickel back"
8. Deltha O'Neal 32, "We all know the story here and know his abilities, the question is do we bring him back to play the nickel?"

We´re more than fine...
with the guys we have. David Jones. Simeone Castille. Morgan Trent. We have plenty of young talent for 3rd CB.

I voted for Surtain...
Experience and the fact that the Bengals would need him to play nickel instead of “shutdown corner” would make him an interesting option…for the right price. Wouldn’t pay too much for him.
At the end of the day, though, I’m not UNhappy with Jones or Castille.

I loved watching him when he was with the dolphins
It's still a good season if we go 2-14 and beat the Steelers twice.

Pacman
Isn’t he still fighting people on Pros vs. Joes?
If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis.

No
I believe he is fighting a couple strippers / baby momma’s right now….and when I say fighting, I mean shooting.

"Toast Jones?"
Why is anyone enamored with this guy? …Castille? …a huge stretch…but maybe he could turn into a decent player. Jones is garbage.
I don’t see how if Trent couldn’t cover anyone at Michigan…how could he possibly fare better in the NFL?

WE'RE TALKING 3RD CB, NOT 1ST OR 2ND

we have plenty of young talent for the 4th CB, but we don’t have a good #3. Mike McKenzie is clearly the best of the bunch in that list, but with his age and injury history it wouldn’t pay to sign him unless he comes cheap. Even then, that would mean less playing time for the young guys. Are the Bengals being realistic and thinking of this as a rebuilding year? If so, pass. If they think they can get to the postseason, McKenzie would help with that.

Leon Hall
Whether he will get disciplined or not by Goodell will definitely play a factor in whether one of these guys are definitely signed

Mike McKenzie was solid for the Saints. If he can just stay healthy, he would be a nice pickup.

If we did bring in anybody my preference was for McKenzie as well. He’s had injury problems but at the same time he still has “just enough” left that I’m somewhat surprised he’s still available at this point.

I voted Mckenzie..
but man if RW McQuarters was on the list, third corner and punt returns. I feel you are all crazy asking Jones to cover some of these third recievers/recieving tight ends and saying you are okay with it. If we are going to be superbowl contenders we are going to need a good nickleback or to create a good three saftey set since that is where we have talent.
