Slow football week
Is anyone else starting to get worried about Simpson? It's starting to sound like he may be a bust. I'm really not as concerned with him breaking out this year due to our deep squad with Ocho, Coles, Henry, and Caldwell, but with only 2 WR spots left, he may not even make the team. Either Cosby or Chatman will stick around to return punts and I'm hearing that Freddie Brown looks good so far too. I would rather see them keep the 6 best on the roster but would hate to see a wasted 2nd round pick.

I think...
Simpson is starting to look like a bust. We’ll give him this season to prove otherwise…IF he makes it to this season.

Way too soon to call him a bust
We all knew Simpson will be a project, everyone knew that when they drafted him. He played 1 year so far in the NFL. only 1 trainning camp. Give him more time. The Bengals dont need him now anyways. He dosnt play special teams, so its hard for him to make the active roster. We already have 3 WRs who wont play on special teams (Chad, Coles, Henry). So our 4th and 5th WRs must play special teams. Simpson is very raw. His route running skills are just now developing. He reminds me of a young Chad Johnson. Just give him time. When we need him, then he will get his chance. But dont look for him to catch more than 10 balls this year, but that dosnt mean hes a bust.

Simpson has always had tremendous talent, watch some of his videos and you cannot argue against his raw ability. I agree with firstpick in that he actually has time to develop. We have enough WR talent and depth to allow Simpson to get the hang of things in the NFL before we just throw him to the wolves. If he had not participated in the early spring program with Caldwell and Carson out in Cali, then maybe I would be getting irked, but right now he gets a pass because when Chad and now Coles retire here soon, we have someone who by then (whenever that is) will be ready and hopefully will have the smarts in our offense to back his talent. It will be interesting to see where he stands this year though, I think we may have too much talent that might end up in front of him.. We will see..

Keep your fingers crossed
Because we should be hoping that he does make the team. If the guy is as talented as we all seem to think then we’ll be kicking ourselves if he ends up somewhere else. Plus, as 80% mentioned, our top receivers are getting a little bit old. That means injuries are more likely to be a problem. I like have depth at WR for that reason.
This is our year!

Desmond Howard used to be consider a bust until he became a super bowl MVP. I will wait until his third season before I call him a bust.
