The man, the legend, the ocho!
What an off season! From a bengals fan perspective, I had never seen such an active off season like this one.... I am really excited to see how the bengals perform in 2009! In my opinion, I believe they will do good and make the playoffs, I am pretty confident!
The whole reason for this post is to talk about Chad! To me, every bengal fan should be thanking him for what he has done for the organization. I can remember back in high school, when Marvin took over, there wasn't much to root for. But after the first season, it seem like everybody started to notice them more. And if I remember correctly, Chad Johnson was the reason. Chad had this unbelievable swag about him. He made it so fun to watch the bengals. He was something to be proud about. Winning the recieving title in yards three years in a row, something no other receiver has done before. His touch down celebrations were all over sports highlights. He basically put Cincinnati back on the map!
I moved to Dallas recently and I can't stand some of these so called "cowboys fans", they are mostly bandwagons. They put so much hype into everything. Most Bengals fans are more loyal than these fans...... but my point is, when ever I talk about the Bengals they always mention Ocho Cinco. Chad has done a lot more good than bad for the city. I can't stand people when they complain about when he wanted to get out of Cincy last year. Yea, it might have not been the most mature thing he has done but the fact remains that he wants to WIN! and I really respect that.... I want players on this team who would do anything to win, I think he is at that point this year! You can see it in his eyes, he is serious and last year play was a fluke. There were a lot of missed opportunities that could have been the differences. We all need to keep in mind, the Bengals are a young team. Last year showed how inexpedience can move you back a couple of steps but don't blame all of it on chad.
To put everything in a nut shell, Chad is the man. He has done way more good than bad. The only negative about him was last year's rant to get out of Cincy. But to me, that is understandable because he is getting close to being done with his career and he wants that trophy as much as any elite player in the league wants it! So if you still haven't forgivenchad, you better now because towards the end of this season you will be on his side again. And we might as well get it started now, give Ocho and all the other players the support they need. Every championship team has a great fan base.... and I truly believe Bengals fans are like no other, we are loyal and we take football really serious! WHO DEY baby!
respectfully,
AMAS
p.s. and by the way.... I really like the fact he changed his last name... there are to many johnsons in the league... his name stands out, just like his personality!

Is this Chad?
This is Chad, right? Pretending to be someone called AMAS? On the off chance this isn’t Chad Johnson posting a love letter to himself, all I’d say is this … the idea that you “can’t stand people who complain about Chad” seems misplaced. Pls be more tolerant of us, AMAS.
If Chad put Cincinnati “back on the map,” that’s a longitude/latitude I don’t wanna occupy. At times Chad’s behavior has been disgraceful … other times, even more disgraceful. Sure, I hope he’s a better WR this year; the team deserves it. But Chad, please, this year think more “We” and talk less “Me”. It’ll make you a better player, and person.
Ocho Props, but...
0chocinco4Life, I get tired of all the Chad bashing as well. It’s not that I disagree with zilla or the other bloggers who are saying that Chad is a “me first” kind of player because in some sense it’s very obvious. He likes the attention, he likes the camera and he’s willing to speak his mind.
And though I don’t think that it’s fair to say that he doesn’t care about his team, even I have to admit that all the crap that went down last year was a bit of a distraction. I love the TD celebrations, I love the pranks against the Cleveland Browns, and I even love the brass predictions about making the playoffs. However, the one thing that I don’t love is that when things were getting bad he wanted to bail out of Cincy. I know the guy wants a championship, but I want him to help the Bengals get it.
This is our year!
By the way....
This wasn’t chad who wrote that lol… that was dumb to even think that… but it was just a loyal fan… i actually had to create a different account because my computer froze and some how messed up my account… but I just wanna say that Chad is more than what he seems, I know he may not be the perfect team mate but he does care a lot about winning! I seen an interview with him crying because he wanted to win so bad. And to say that he was trying to bail out when we had a bad year is not totally correct. Chad has been with the team when they were know as the BUNGALS ( a name that i really hate!). He is just disappointed that the team takes 3 steps forward and then 4 steps back……
I really do believe we have all the pieces to the puzzle and we just need learn how to fix the little things… there were to many mental mistakes… if u notice all of our games were close in the first half and a lot of them went to the last couple minutes of the 4th quarter…
The Team is still known as the Bungles
But if we’d like to lose that nickname, then Chad best do what he can and do things with TEAM in mind.
This could be a great year for him, and his team mates, so I hope he does the right things this Summer and during the season.
thats not true...
we r not still concidered the bungles. I said that because on espn, they use to call us the bungles all the time. I haven’t heard them call us that in a while. And we r a much better coached team then back in the day too! We just have been very unfortunate.
I'm not going to argue the finer points
but around here, outside of the homer circle, I get called a Bungles fan on a regular basis. And yes, I friggin hate the term.
If we can go 8-8, we can lose that moniker. IF we can do better, and stay out of the newspapers for criminal charges, even better. IF we can go 3 years of strong season finishes, including some playoff games and a, um, Superbowl appearance, then the Bungles are a thing of the past.
ESPN isn’t calling us the bungles, but they will if we go 0-4 again this year to be sure.

Just go to the Browns
The Blogpages on the Browns, Ravens or Steelers websites constantly refers to Cincy as the B*&%$s. I too hate the term so much that I had to bleep it out. Yes, I think that unfortunately, the term B*&%$s is still very common, even if ESPN has stopped using it (I don’t get cable…how I miss thee Sports Center) that doesn’t mean that we’re not constantly referred to as that derogatory word. And, I don’t think that we’ll stop being referred to as that until we win the AFC north.
This is our year!

BTW, we already did win the AFC north.
It's still a good season if we go 2-14 and beat the Steelers twice.

How can you people still support this man?
Really? I want to know. I am not going to sit here and dispute the fact that he is an extremely talented receiver and athlete. But his attitude is up there with some of the worst in the NFL. I am going to run down the laundry list one more time for everyone-
1) He said he did not lift a single weight or run at all before last season. That is one of the biggest f#$%ing slaps in the face an NFL player could ever do. What pays for his salary? That would be us. All of the fans that buy Bengals merchandise and go to games and pay the ridiculous prices for concessions. We pay for his salary. We are the ones who even provide the opportunity for him to be on this grand stage were easily led morons will actually flock to a immature, selfish ego-maniac like Chad. Right around that week he also said that he needed the fans to embrace him so that he could be Chad. Then, when he gets to the Bengals facilities the next week, he retracts his statements from the week before saying that it would have been ridiculous for him to not have done a single workout and that the only person who’s opinion mattered was Mike Brown. Which makes him a liar and a hypocrite.
2) There have been very few things he has done that have not been self serving. He has done some good things. Every year he buys Christmas toys for kids and he has helped out some charities. The only reason that it seems like he has done a lot is because of his high profile, he gets more coverage. But when you compare the entire body of work to someone like say a Shayne Graham, Chad does not hold a candle. And all those TD celebrations were all about Chad (and this is true of all the receivers that took part in this). They scream “look at me”. They were never about the fact the team just scored a touchdown, that the team is doing good, it was all “Look at me, here I am in the endzone, I scored this TD, I did all the work to get here”.
3) All of this “I want to fight _______” crap is the most childish thing of all. I have already gotten into this on some post so I will keep it short. This is a 8 year old, my dad can beat up your dad playground mentality. Ridiculous coming from someone who is supposed to be a grown a#$ man. The name change falls under the same category- he only did it because he wanted attention.
4) Chad did not put Cincinnati back on the map. This is exactly what I am talking about. Now you yourself are giving Chad way to much credit. People who don’t realize this next fact need to realize that THEY DON’T KNOW S#$% about football. When it comes to offense performance, IT ALL STARTS WITH THE OFFENSIVE LINE. Unless you have a QB that can buy time, which is not easy to find, you better a good o-line. The only thing that can save a poor offense is a great defense. In 2005- the offensive line protected Carson and kept him upright, giving Carson the time to find the receivers and the receivers the time they needed to get open, and therefore Chad benefited.
It's still a good season if we go 2-14 and beat the Steelers twice.
