"I need the fans to embrace me. I know people are mad at me. I read the message boards, but I've apologized 85 times," Ochocinco said. "If they can embrace me, I can spread my wings and be myself. When they're mad at me, I don't know if I can be myself. I'm an emotional guy. I want them to know that I love them and I want to win. I want to be on point with everybody on the team and win. I know I've been frustrated when we haven't won. Maybe now when I vent, I should just do it to the fans on the message boards."

Yea, he also needs the fans to start buying his ‘Ocho’ jerseys … profootballtalk.com is reporting that his jerseys havent been selling like he might have anticipated. Oops? Of course he needs the fans, because without us, he is forgotten. How about you show up and prove your spot on the roster, then maybe someone will buy a jersey…

The NFL makes a profit on jersey sales
…not him

I agree, I never mentioned anything about him profiting from the sales, but after the whole ordeal last year with Rebook wanting him to buy all the old jerseys.. the name change.. yada yada yada.. I could guess that he would like people to be buying them after all the nonsense. Now he just looks like even more of a fool..

Oh, and just another comment… I just checked profootball.com… and they are saying the same thing I did.. “it might just be a ploy to sell some ‘Ochocinco’ jerseys..”

Not surprised
Chad, Just in case you read this. Come to the OTAs. Embrace the team. We want to embrace you but in your absence you give us the message that you don’t care about us or the team. You take a step toward us and we will take a step toward you. If you don’t move – we don’t move. Give us your all and you will be surprised how quickly we can forgive. I can be like it was again – it is all up to you.

@ JUNGLEJOHN
thank you for saying exactly what I meant to say, yet did not have the words to piece together. This is like a nasty break up, we have already moved on, if you want us back.. convince us that it is a wise choice.

It should not matter what we think
It’s very simple. NO MATTER WHAT the fans, media, teamates or coaches are saying, you work hard and do what you can to help the team. If you are letting what the fans and media are saying affect you, you should have chosen a different profession.
Chad admitted on NFL network that last offseason he did not lift a weight or workout at all. he might as well have walked right up to every Bengals fan door and slapped them in the face himself.
Chad, you do not have my support. Right now, I am not embracing you. But it should not matter. Your attitude and work ethic should be exactly the same if I am bashing you on the boards or screaming for your autograph at the stadium.
It's still a good season if we go 2-14 and beat the Steelers twice.

I think....
we all love Chad in the deepest part of our heart. We’ve had so many guys want to leave Cincy because we’ve been crap for so many years. I can understand them. However Chad is different. I think Chad really, really loves Cincy. I think he has been mad for not winning. I think he has the right to be mad at his coaches for making wrong decisions. I don’t think anybody in the Bengal’s locker room doesn’t like Chad. For me, Chad has been the face of this franchise for the past 5 years or so. He’s not like TO. TO is mean, aggresive, and is not loyal (about to play with a 4th different team now). If Chad wanted to leave, he’d be gone now. I UNDERSTAND HIS ANGER. We have a franchise quarterback. In his eyes, that’s all we need to be a super bowl team. We’ve been so close to being a super bowl team (05’). I’m willing to forgive him as I know most of us are. I know this season is different. He’s been working out, he ain’t lying. His attitude seems different. He’s humble now. He’s hungry to win. He know how to win. Last season changed this guy for good. He got his lesson, and he’s ready to prove us that Chad, Mr. 5 time pro bowler is back and ready to blow past any corner in this league AND catch the ball while he’s at it.
