Broncos vs. Bengals

This is how I see the first national headlines after the Bengals game against the Broncos.

ORTON, Why?

After giving up three interceptions, Kyle Orton is asking himself what happened? Coming out of his best season last year, no one could have predicted this type of game from him. The first drive was their best, which resulted in a 32 yrd. Pratter field goal. But after that, it was all down hill. It seemed like Orton's play led the Broncos to there first loss of the season. Orton made many bad decisions and was very indecsive with all of his passes. The only highlight from this game was Marshall catch over two Bengals defenders for 25 yrds. This could be a long year for the Broncos if they keep giving up 27 points to teams like the Bengals!

I think its going to be funny because I know if the bengals were to win like this, the first thing the analysist will say...."It was Orton's horrible play that led them to their loss".... I think the Bengals defense will hardly even get noticed because of last year. And by the end of the year all the analysist will be on their bandwagon saying they knew that the Bengals had a great defense but they just had to prove them selfs!

Feel free to do week two! or fix up my prediction!

i think you’re selling Benson short. An abysmal run defense probably gets worse with the Broncos switching to the 3-4. While i’m unsure of Denver’s free ageny transactions, I do think Shanahan’s 4-3 leftovers plus an 09 First Round pick of a 4-3 DE should make for a disastrous transition.

Call me crazy, but i think Benson pops off 132 rushing yards, and Leonard and Scott rake in some rush yards as well.

I like the optimism about the passing game, but i truly believe the best way to get this new OLine comfortable is a heavy dose of the run game. We get 2 straight weeks of teams that were awful against the run, both of which are switching to the 3-4, this is a perfect opportunity for the offense. Palmer needs this group to jell ASAP and i think Cedric can hammer out some big yards to boost the confidence of the Big5, whomever they may be. If we can get the ground game, we can get the play-action……then Palmer will get back to slicin-n-dicin.

I agree that Orton will be terrible…..verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry terrible.

3 yards and a pile of dust

Bengals defense to get 3 sacks and 4 turnovers? When is the last time they did that? And against the Broncos o-line?

Wow. That’s optimism.

And Orton has always been a smart player, very rarely making mistakes. He may not have a big arm, but he isn’t the bumbling fool you make him out to be.

I think it will be a good game. Obviously I want the Bengals to win, but I don’t think a drubbing of this magnitude is realistic.

5 times actually, but 2005 was the magic year. The Bengals also picked off Daunte Culpepper and Brett Favre 5 times each, Rothlisberger 3 times in 1 game and 1 in the other, Garcia 3 times, McNair twice, Boller twice, Dilfer twice, and once each for Peyton Manning and Kelly Holcomb. All that and with a mediocre at best pass rush. I don’t know how they did it, and I’d love to see them do it again, but it isn’t likely. They also played guys like David Carr and Charlie Frye that year but didn’t pick them off once. That was just a very strange year.

H-Orton hears a Who-Dey

Lotta love it!

Anyhoo, I think the key factor won’t be so much about our offense, other than the O line working to become solid. The key for this game will be our Defense making life miserable for Orton. Expect blitzes on passing downs. Look for LBers stuffing running backs at the line. Look for picks from the D-backs.

Unless everyone totally screws up, expect some hard hitting smash mouth ball.
