Vick?!
I have seen reports saying that we are interested in signing Vick. This seemed like a suprise to me because with the Bengals history, it would seem like like a mistake waiting to happen. But on the flip side, after thinking about it, it wouldn't be bad move at all. If he was really interested in signing with the Bengals, we could get him for really cheap! And if Carson ever got hurt, we would have a back up that we know we can win with! To me that is the most important thing. If we sign him with a two year contract and he does good as special teamer and maybe some at tailback, we could trade him for a draft pick!

RE: Interest
I haven’t actually heard of the team showing interest with Vick. Most of the reports we’re reading are conjecture pieces from the media that the Bengals should take a look.

The straw that breaks the Camel's back.
If we sign him, I am done as a Bengal’s fan. This is not an empty threat or me trying to get some laughs. Done. I will be rooting for someone else and turning in my season tickets.
It's still a good season if we go 2-14 and beat the Steelers twice.
I would welcome you to our bandwagon.
Saw some pessimism in the comments to thequestion post by eniman. Got me wondering howmany starters are coming back on Defense.

Luckily for me
Mike Brown ACTUALLY made a statement to the media stating that we were not interested. For whats it worth. And while I respect the Steelers, I don’t think I could jump on the wagon for them. I would probably lean towards the Dolphins. Don’t know why really.

You know there would be a lot of interesting opinions to that Question
If you had to change the team you support, Who is it? Why?

I don't like to change loyalties,
but if something ever happened to the Bengals franchise, I’d have to pick the Raiders. I don’t think that I would know what to do with a perennially successful team. Wouldn’t that get a little boring rooting for a team like the Patriots? You’d have to be like “Oh, they just won another Super Bowl….Yawn”

Probably either Green Bay or Houston. Possibly both. One in each conference.
Couldn’t tell you why though. Definitly not a perenial favorite like Indy, NE, Pittsburgh, or Dallas. They have enough fans without me.

Well I already have my NFC team… but if the bungles really pissed me off badly enough that I’d have to find another AFC team… hmm…
Obviously the stoolers are right out. No team that takes cheap shots like they do apparently actually trying to injure the opponent will ever be my team. The ravens aren’t quite as bad but too much so for me. I suppose I could live with the browns but not likely… And I haven’t yet forgotten spygate the way so many others seem to have, so the Cheatriots are out. And the whole AFC West is out too.
I like Indy already, just less than the Bengals, so I suppose it’s possible I’d just promote ‘em. But I’d probably promote either Miami or Jacksonville instead, with a slim possibility on Houston instead. Miami because I like the Tuna. Jax because I like Mighty Mouse and I don’t mind Garard or del Rio too much. And Houston just because they’ve got enough O to keep me interested even if their D sucks (kinda like the bungles in some recent years).
Sounds like you got your team loyalty as a kid like I did.
And maybe don’t even know an actual reason, I’ve just been that way for as long as I liked football.
After giving “The different team scenario” some deeper thought I wonder if I’d lose my interest in the NFL.
I do know that I have had many other teams over the years that I waspulling for and that those teams changed over the years. At one time the Bengals with QB Anderson, Seahawks with WR Largent, Falcons or was it Eagles with QB Ron Jaworski(sp?). Bills with RB ThurmonThomas. San Diego with QB Fouts.
The common thread with them all is that they were teams that had had little success. Then overa few years they made steady progress to the point where they either just made or missed the playoffs. Second thing they had in common were a core group of veterans that had grown up with their teams thru the lean times and who were cosistent in their efforts and performances over the seasons without complaint or the need for publicity.
Presently my other team is Arizona Pittsburgh West Cardinals. . I believe they are not one year wonders which is a complete change and plus the amount of exSteeler players and coaches really validates my first LOVE.

most are coming back... plus our additions and draft picks..
hope the steelers O-line is just as bad this year

I fear it is.
Though most don’t share my opinion. Heck if the OL was average it be a leap in the right direction.

Vick is the new Farve on NFL network and other places
My God, last year I wanted to kill myself because that’s ALL they covered ALL THE TIME.
This year, since Favre-less is most likely going to be the state of things, it’s going to be “Lets play find a home for Vick”.
You know what? SCREW VICK. Yes he paid his debt to society. But the guy and his buddies still fought and killed dogs. Don’t don’t perform, put him down. Maybe it’s acceptable in downtown Newport News. Don’t care. Too bad. Left out like a dog on a chain in a downpour. Lets move on.
If he finds another team I don’t mind… but I would really appreciate ESPN and company shutting up about him already.
He is big news though, and even though I don’t like Vick any more than the next guy, we all have to admit that there’s not much else to talk about right now. I think that the real debate shouldn’t be speculating on who he is going to sign with, but on how good he really is. He was a multi-talented player, but simply put, he wasn’t very accurate. His best season was 56%, which is a pretty low number for a Franchise type QB. Obviously his main asset is his running ability, but he’s almost 30 years old and he’s been out of the game for two years, so who knows how much longer he’ll be able to run at a high level.
Don’t get me wrong, Vick is an incredible QB (though I wouldn’t want him on the Bengals). But I’m wondering if he’s really worth all the hype that everybody’s given him.

Yeah well he wasn’t a very good pocket passer before… but sometimes people change. I doubt it has happened, of course, (yet at least) but it’s conceivable that being forced to sit down and engage his brain might actually turn him into a better QB once he gets back into the groove. Maybe.
If prison time made you a better QB
then the Bengals would have a whole slew of potential starters…

put him in the dog pound in cleveland..
can you imagine the marketing possibilities, endless. plus then we’d get to watch our D rip his frail legs off or give him a concussion via Trent Green style..

I can decide if this deserves a +1 or -1 lol
