Bengals Sign Defensive Tackle Langston Moore

Joe Reedy and C. Trent tweeted about 15 minutes ago that the Bengals have brought former Bengal, defensive tackle Langston Moore, formerly of the Detroit Lions and NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals, back to Cincinnati. Moore will likely contend for a rotational position and back up Domata Peko, Tank Johnson, and rotate in with Pat Sims. Moore played in 9 games for Detroit last year, registering 12 tackles and 1 sack.

He was the first overall pick in the sixth round of the 2003 draft by the Bengals. He spent 2003 on the practice squad before playing 15 games in 2004.

what does this mean?

is the rookie not who they thought he was?

Gangsta Langtsa

must be little confidence in Clinton McDonald.

I’m starting think Frostee Rucker is in trouble too.

If they keep 8 DL, DT’s are looking like Tank, Sims, Peko and i guess Moore. DE’s are looking like Michael Johnson, Odom, Geathers, and Fanene.

Rucker has had trouble with injuries, but so has Fanene. Really they’re taking a gamble on either one of these guys.

It’s also interesting that they moved Jason Shirley to the OLine, and then sign Moore. Why not sign a OG???? the O-line needs depth not projects.

guess we’ll see how this all shakes out…..

3 yards and a pile of dust

My guess is McDonald will end up on the practice squad.

I don’t know why they thought Moore was the right choice, but hopefully he doesn’t have to see much playing time this year / we can avoid injuries.

well I thought we had depth at this position

but now im thinking differently after an 0 and 16 dumped this guy

Well you know what they say, one mans junk is another man’s treasure. Just look at players who got dumped by their former teams and then got to come back and help beat them later on the next year. The list is probably only about five times as long as my arm. :)

The Bengals made the move because they need bodies. Rookie tackles Clinton McDonald and Pernell Philips are dinged up and veteran ends Antwan Odom (Achilles) amd Frostee Rucker (hip) are fighting injuries. But the 6-1, 305-pound Moore has a shot to make this team behind Domata Peko, Tank Johnson, and Pat Sims depending how many D-linemen they keep.

Right, but why Moore?

I guess for a 4th tackle maybe he’s not awful.

i asked John Thornton what he thought...

“JohnThornton@jGoods13 bengals signed Langston?? Good move. He’s a good inside rusher. I hope he gets a shot 2 stick. I hated to see him cut 3yrs ago”

"Ghiaciuc's play was a distraction"

Mike Brown thinks he’s got potential at tight end.

I like it

I was surprised when they cut him 3 year ago. I thought he played well. I dont see him being a game changer but with him in the rotation he could be productive.

Wow...

So they felt they needed to sign another DT…and rather than moving Jason Shirley BACK over from OG to his natural position…where he played up until what, a week ago(?), they sign Langston Moore!

Genius.
