Well, Of Course He Does (Andre Smith)
Here's a Joe Reedy tweet about Andre Smith's first day at practice, courtesy of Paul Alexander. I think we can file this under the "You Don't Say" category.
As Bengals fans, we can only hope his rookie season isn't a bust and Smith will be able to contribute. Watching him dominate at Alabama gives this blogger hope, but it ain't gonna be easy. I'm not applying blame here because there's plenty to go around to both parties. One could say, "Damn them for low balling Smith" or "Damn that Smith for not signing and getting into camp sooner," and frankly, both sentiments are valid.
At the end of the day, however, the Bengals finally signed their first round draft pick. The best we can hope for is that it wasn't too late for the man-child to contribute this season.

extra 3 mil for 2 weeks?
you really think it’d be worth another 3 mil for 2 weeks? that’s 1.5 mil a week for someone who’s not guaranteed to be a starter. I was just as mad at Brown as everybody else about lowballing Smith, but it has worked out to be in our favor. We have Collins starting and Andre will be able to catch up eventually through regular team practices and learning from veterans like Bobbie Williams and Whit. I’m not worried about it. Would’ve loved to have him in camp from the get-go but don’t know if it would be worth 1.5 million a week.
God I love Bengals fans.
Has any rookie whose missed training camp been successful their rookie season? Hell and No
So basically you are paying Smith $5 million to do nothing this year.
Not to mention drafting is all about risk management. The Brengals drafted a high risk/ high reward player but then took none of the steps to minimize the risk of Smith being a bust like singing him quickly. Why would this be a smart strategy, bc Smith has a questionable work ethic/mental status and you need to get a guy like that adjusted as quickly as possible.
Oh I almost forgot! Let’s pencil him in as our starting RT then not sign him! Stupid management
Besides I am sure it helped his mental status to be mocked on national television by his teammates.

Too often
people leave their sarcasm meter switched to the “off” position while conversing on the internet. This is why I believe there is a great need for sarcasm font.
"Has any rookie whose missed training camp been successful their rookie season?"
Depends on what you’d call successful. Justin Smith is one the longest holdouts in team history. He recorded eight sacks his rookie year.

so u are suggesting that a guy who hasn’t played in 9+ months, missed training camp, OTA’s, flaked out of the combine, questionable mental/motivational status and out of shape is going to do anything this year then wow just wow.
Smith is going to ride the pine this year and cost $5 million to sit on the sideline and learn the system. Wouldn’t it have been better to pony up the extra million in guaranteed money to have Smith actually contribute his rookie his rookie year like other top-five draft tackles. I don’t know maybe he can protect that 30 year old $100 million QB. But that would make too much football-sense

If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't
She follows in Mike's winning tradition
We’re certainly in great hands when she assumes full control. I think we reach the playoffs TWICE in her first 20 years.
Does Al Davis have idiot children waiting in the throes?
Al Davis has kids?
Now that’s a scary thought.
On the bright side, at least we can’t do too much worse with Katie. Maybe there would be a chance of her hiring a GM?
the only thing worse than an incompetent man running our team..
is an incompetent woman running our team..
