First post, so I'll try not to screw this up. Here is my 53 man roster and the questions that I can't decide the answer to:
QB - Palmer, O'Sullivan, Palmer
RB - Benson, Scott, Leonard, Dorsey
FB - Johnson, Vakapuna
TE - Coats, Coffman, Foschi (probably a FA pickup insead of Foschi)
WR - Ocho Cinco, Coles, Henry, Caldwell, Simpson, Cosby
T - Collins, Whitworth, Smith, Roland
G - Livings, Williams, Kooistra, Shirley
C - Cook, Luigs
Offense Total: 28 (I know it's high, I'll get to that)
DT - Johnson, Peko, Sims
DE - Geathers, Odom, Johnson, Fanene
LB - Jones, Rivers, Maualuga, Johnson, Jeanty, Hodge
CB - Hall, Joseph, Jones, Trent, Pope (probably a FA pickup instead of Pope)
S - Williams, Crocker, Ndukwe, Nelson
Defense Total: 22
Specialists - Graham, Huber, St. Louis
Notable Cuts - White, Rucker, Blackstock, Hebert, Lynch
Practice Squad - Pressley, Murray, Macdonald, Jenkins, Hill, Brown, Purify (if he's eligible), FA pickup
Now, having 28 players on offense and 22 on defense is an obvious flaw, which I know will probably not happen. If you consider Shirley to be the 10th OL and 8th DL, I think that takes Rucker out of the mix and let's be honest, if it gets to the point that Shirley has to play OL or DL in a game, the next week they will pick someone up to put ahead of him on the depth chart anyway. Or they can just switch him over to TE to fill in that hole if needed.
At least 1 player will be gone from the 3 TEs, 4 RBs, and 2 FBs that I have listed, but I think those positions are going to be the most important to keeping Carson protected and thus should take precident over a 10th DB. I think Dorsey has played his way on the team, and in my opinion, he beats out White and Lynch b/c he can also return kicks and provides more upside.
Who do you change from this list? Are there too many little guys that are fighting for the same spot (Dorsey, Nelson, Cosby, Trent)? These are the things that keep me up at night now that our first round pick has been signed and maimed for the near future.
I look forward to reading your responses and joining in the discussions this season.
