BRANDON MARSHALL

Their is not doubt in my mind that the Bengals should give up the 1st round pick and maybe 3rd for Brandon Marshall.  He is one of the best recievers in the leauge and would really help in opening up our passing game.  Marshall is only 26 and him and Ochocinco could really feed off of each other.  The other prospect the Bengals should look into this offseason is TE Ben Watson or Owen Daniels.  With these two players added I think it would really improve our team and Palmer would have now choice but to have a good season.  Please post some comments and tell me what you think.  WHO DEY!

Agreed.

Wonder if Mikey boy will pony up the picks.

For one pick I'd do it but not two

they have too many holes.
Picking up a free agent TE is a great idea which tells me Mikey Brown will sign either nobody at all or someone who stinks.

I agree, we cant just give away picks like that

you could probably get him for just a 1st or 2nd round pick given his recent troubles.
We would hope if no trades are agreed to he would end up just getting released, but they would try and get something for him first.

He might be the best receiver in the league right now though and is the type of player that could immediately give our offense a top 10 potential. I think his attitude makes Ocho look like a well behaved citizen though….At the end of the day I’d give up a pick or two to get him.

Here’s why – In the draft, we might end up hitting on 50% of our picks (look at Jerome Simpson), but with Marshall you have a proven commodity and a bona-fide superstar. It’s a 100% chance that we’re getting a talented game-changing type WR.

This is our year!

But Watson has had a case of the Dan coats this year.

Owen Daniels

I would love it If they signed Owen Daniels!!!! That would be great!!!!

owen daniels

i think the texans will either tender him, franchise, or sign him to big deal…if its a tender, it would cost a 1st and 3rd i believe

True dat.

The only guys that come to Cincy are backups & guys whose teammates made them look better (Nate Webster, “the next Ray Lewis”), guys with serious injury troubles (Roy Williams, it looks like), or guys who are real old and washed up and want to cash one last check (Richmond Webb)

Benson against how many bad free agent pick ups?

Once again, fans like you settle for mediocrity.

were we talking about 20 years of misery? or were we talking about players being decent FA pick-ups? you’ve caught the bengal boy bug of spitting hate and checking your brain at the door.. but to answer your question, yes.. and no.

by 80%OFTHETIMEIMRIGHTEVERYTIME on Jan 20, 2010 5:20 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

let's look at some high profile signings by other teams last year

albert haynesworth (great year, right? wrong.)
TJ (he really lit it up in seattle. nope.)
dominique foxworth (the ravens didn’t allow any big games by Wrs, right?)
matt cassell (basically a FA as he was franchised and traded, pro bowl qb…maybe with moss and welker, not in KC)
stacy andrews, derrick ward, nate washington?

greeeeeeeat.

i’d say johnson, crocker, tank, roy, benson don’t seem like they’re too off mark. and we didn’t pay out the ass even if they were all backups.

RIP Slim.

Who cares about other teams. Worry about your team.

There is no way in your right mind that you can convince me or anybody in here that the Bengals have a reputation for signing good players in free agency.

The only person that we got lucky with is Benson, the other players are JUST OK.

I’m hopeful that we can get lucky again this offseason.

If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't

Tell us all of the great game changers

that has been signed as a FA to a team, that has actually lived up to his game changing potential? There are a few but not many FA’s that live up to the hype. In today’s game….
There are not that many players that switch to a different team and make that big of an impact, unless you get them like we did Benson.

...

Randy Moss, TO in Dallas (minus the rants), Gonzalez in ATL, Collins in Ten, Turner in ATL, …just to name a few. Im pretty sure there are many others.

If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't

by trotanoy on Jan 21, 2010 1:41 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

ok

randy moss in oakland. real game changer
TO tore dallas apart and he was great in buffalo this year
gonzalez is solid, and i’d say essential for ryan’s success, but not a gamechanger
kerry collins was a product of chris johnson running wild. and how did this season go for him? benched after 6 straight losses. and if i’m correct, didn’t tennessee start playing better without him?
turner, once again, one good year.

are any of them worth the money they are paid? moss in NE maybe. but they got welker at the same time, and he’s had over 100 receptions for 3 seasons. soooooooo….

oh and moss was traded. not a FA

RIP Slim.

i hate mike brown

i just think we have made some solid signings the past few years. the major flaw i see was letting tj go. but who knows, coles could have a better season next year. stranger things have happened.

Would Love Daniels and Marshall too. I would hope we could get Marshall for less than a 1st and a 3rd...he isn't franchised

I would also like to see Coffman used alot in the pass game because I think he could be a Tight End/WR hybrid that could be better than Witten and Clark if given the oppurtunity, he is faster than both of those guys. He is 3 inches taller than Clark and one inch taller than Wittnen. Coffman could be a huge matchup problem for oppossing Linebackers and Safeties

Hopefull WR Depth Chart possibilities

1. 2.

  1. Ocho #1 Ocho
  2. Marshall #2 Brandon Lafell/Damian Williams/ Dez Bryant
  3. Quan Cosby #3 Jordan Shipley/Golden Tate/Mardy Gilyard
  4. Caldwell #4 Quan Cosby/ Caldwell
  5. Simpson #5Simpson

    Coles Cut Coles Cut

3.

  1. Ocho
  2. Coles/Simpson
  3. Shipley/Tate/Gilyard
  4. Caldwell
  5. Quasby

There are more possibilities especially if Simpson dont make the team. Personally I think Simpson makes the team and think he will do very well, I would hope that we could cut Coles or try and trade him to Denver with a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Brandon Marshall. I would like to see Coles gone, Marshall added, add another WR or 2 in the draft; Tate, Shipley, Gilyard as slots, Maybe Williams, Bryant, Lafell as Bigs, Promote Quan Cosby over Caldwell or just rotate them but give Quan more reps, I really think next year we will be really awesome at WR

by TennBengalfan on Jan 18, 2010 1:09 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

But i would love to see Coles traded away in the trade for Marshall, it was supposed to be read like this

Depth Chart 1 my personal favorite! we will probably have 6 or 7 WR which wont be bad

  1. Ocho
  2. Marshall, Coles traded for him plus draft pick/s
  3. Quasby and hopefully a Rookie
  4. Caldwell
  5. Simpson I think he makes the team and he actually will be pretty good

Depth Chart 2 this is if we dont add thru free agency
  6. Ocho
  7. Brandon Lafell/Damian Williams/ Dez Bryant
  8. Jordan Shipley/Golden Tate/Mardy Gilyard
  9. Quan Cosby/ Caldwell
  10. Simpson

Depth Chart 3 What Most likely will happen, given that I dont know if we will add slot or Big WR in draft
#1.Ocho
#2.Coles
#3.Shipley/Tate/Gilyard/Lafell/Bryant/Williams/Benn
#4.Caldwell
#5.Quasby/Simpson

ur a little drunk to expect a rookie WR to be anywhere close to number 3 on the depth chart

Next year it will be
1) Chad
2) This is where we would put marshall, if not, then Caldwell
3) Coles / Cosby
4) Rookie

by trotanoy on Jan 18, 2010 2:40 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Crabtree wasnt number 1 until week 8, Nicks made his way up to number 3, Britt only had 42 catches (we need more than that)

and all of those teams had very suspect WR corps comming into the season, none of them had even close to the Talent we claim to have

"Ghiaciuc's play was a distraction"

Crabtree wasn’t even on the team until week 8.

But it is true that all three teams had lots of question marks on their WR corp before the season. But to say they had more than we do now? No, can’t buy that.

AUSTIN COLLIE, PIERRE GARCON? There's probably more that I can't remember.

I guarantee you if we draft Williams, Lafell, or Bryant (miracle), he would be a solid #2 WR if Marvin the clown lets him.

great point

Take a WR in the Later rounds. not the 1st.

Oh and dont forget Mike Wallace, we could use that this draft

Sign Brandon!
He is still very young and one of the elite receiver. big target for carson.
Owen Daniels would be nice. But I don´t know if a blocking TE like R. Kelly isn´t enough.
I think (as we know Mike) one of those two would be great.
But we know Mike, so I guess we won´t sign anybody and keep the picks…
And we all know that you just cannot have a draft where you can get lucky picks like maualuga smith scott trent huber and so on…

by tim-from-germany on Jan 18, 2010 5:39 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think the only way anybody ends up with Brandon Marshall

is by trade. He’s an RFA, and it costs too much to sign an RFA usually.
But the Broncs are unhappy with Marshall and might part with him via trade, and might be willing to take less compensation then they’d get via RFA signing. Like Randy Moss, who was dealt for a fourth round pick (shockingly little compensation! Doubt the Broncs will be that dumb)

by occams_tiger_teeth on Jan 18, 2010 11:52 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

from good ol' john clayton at espn

Q: Broncos coach Josh McDaniels wants to trade Brandon Marshall because of his attitude. I don’t have a problem with that, but will the Broncos have to give another team a steal to unload him, or can they get a first-rounder? If so, who makes the trade? I think the Bears, hooking Jay Cutler and Marshall back up, would instantly solve a lot of their offensive woes.

Hank in Daytona Beach, Fla.

A: I don’t know whether the Broncos can get a first-rounder. Braylon Edwards went for a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick. If you are the Broncos, you can’t take anything less than a second-round pick. If there is no salary cap, I have to think the Broncos could get at least a second-rounder and maybe a first-rounder. The Ravens say they aren’t going to do a Marshall trade, but they would be a perfect team for him. They like big receivers, and Marshall would do well with Joe Flacco. The Bears don’t have a shot because they don’t have a first- or second-round pick. Scratch them. You’d also have to watch the Dolphins. He would fit perfectly in their offense.

I would totally give a second rounder for marshall, but they would have to eat all that up front money they gave coles last season.

RIP Slim.

by brandone on Jan 20, 2010 9:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Steal

I would easily give up a first round pick for Marshall. He would completely change the dynamic of this team offensively. Heck, I’d give a first rounder and Coles and maybe throw in Simpson too…

by The Dealio on Jan 21, 2010 3:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

We should also throw in Brat and maybe Jordan Palmer. At the very least JP has the cell phone app thing going for him.
