Wouldn't this be a great situation:
Offer up a trade of Laveranues Coles, 2010 3rd, and 6th round picks to the Denver Broncos for Brandon Marshall and they would accept it! They could counter back with an offer of Coles and our 2nd rounder for Marshall, that would be just fantastic! I would take either one of those deals anyday, Or just Coles and a conditional pick.
Then comes the draft in April and we end up with a great first round pick other than WR since we added Marshall, such as Gresham,Terrence Cody, Taylor Mays, Earl Thomas, Donovan Warren, Mike Iupati, etc. or a Dez Bryant, Eric Berry, Rico McCoy, or Joe Haden Falls to us. Then we could go with WR in the 2nd or 3rd (depends which we trade if any) and still pick up a great slot fast guy with Tate, Shipley, and Gilyard all projected going after the first round then we could go from kinda mediocre at WR to absolutely awesome!
As much as we all want Marshall we all pretty much know it wont happen, especially trading Coles and lower picks for him. Their is always that possibility that something great like this will happen or at least sign another good WR such as Antonio Bryant, Malcom Floyd etc...
But that is what is so great about the offseason we can all get our hopes up and say this is the year that we make huge moves in the offseason. Given our history with Brown we won't do to much trading or signing big name free agents that don't have injury problems, but like I said this could be the year.......Right?
I really hope that we can at least sign one of the deep threat free agent WR's and pick up a nice guy in the draft as well (Golden Tate would be awesome). Lets keep wishing guys, and maybe we might actually get one to come true.
Then we could change our helmets to the inverted stripes and start a new era.....
P.S. The Jets are the luckiest team ever. We missed 2 field goals, Chargers missed 3, will Colts let the game come down to field goals? I hope not, I hope the Colts win then get beat by the Saints in the Super Bowl.
P.P.S. Best thing i've heard Marvin say in a long time (what I have in bold is what i need to see)
"People forget the 45-yard pass interference penalty (to Chad in the Wild Card game). Let’s have three 45-yard pass interference penalties every game. At least attempts. Then I’ll feel better. We’ve got to throw it down the field. We have to put fear in them. If you don't put fear in them, then you keep seeing some of the things you see (lack of offense). That’s why we’ve gotten the long runs because we’re running the ball against eight-man fronts. Once we block them up, get guys on guys, we got longer runs. And you saw it happen throughout the season."
Now I do believe that Marvin has a problem with how Brat was calling plays and him having only 2 or 3 different offensive formations (one with stacked line for runs and one with 3 WR's for passes). I have to agree with Marvin that I don't think we really put any fear in a defense all season with our lackluster offense, we have to put the fear of god into the defense. When you are able to throw the ball down the field, that will open up the running game alot more and have less 8 and 9 men in the box, which im sure Benson will absolutely love!!! If we can get our offense back to being able to throw, with this dynamic running game (one of the top 3 in the NFL), along with Zimmer's defense, we will be almost unstoppable. If Lewis can live up to these words and get Brat to throw the ball more down the field, I will have alot more faith going into next season! (Being that we are adding more players through free agency and draft, im about to lose it! im already excited)
