Why the saints piss me off

I will begin by saying that I actually like the Saints.  New Orleans is an old city rich in history and culture and is one of the few places in america that actually feels like another country.  It's great.  I'd also like to say this isn't about Who Dat.  I don't care which came first, and it seems like they developed independently of one another.  It's not their players, I like Brees, Bush, Thomas, sharper, etc.  No, the reason I hate the Saints is simply this: they are the 2005 Cincinnati Bengals reincarnated and in the superbowl.  I hate them because they are what we would have been if Carson Palmer had been able to play more than 1 play in that game.  Had he not been injured and replaced by Krazy Legz Kitna.

Evidence:

Accurate QB with a crazy arm.

Puts up points on any D.

Opportunistic running game.

WR depth unparalleled by any team outside of the colts.

Very opportunistic defense led by wily veterans.

A turnover differential that is unreal.

There's more, but mostly it's just that I can't watch the Saints without thinking of the 2005 cincinnati bengals and wanting to stab kimo von oelhoffen in the heart.

I agree

Of course it’s “ifs and buts”, but…
he played so hesitantly and was throwing with mostly his arm when he returned… killing his elbow. There goes another season. Even this year, he wasn’t right (not including the thumb). A little better line blocking or confidence in the line might’ve changed things a bit, I suppose. Nevertheless, he was not following through for significant parts of the season (not just of a game).

Chicago was the perfect game for him. Great blocking, routes run with a dollop of daisy, crowd was rooting for him. All factors in.

I know Kimo said he didn’t mean to do it, but there’s a reason the rule was changed after that year. Carson has never been the same, and I’m starting to wonder if he ever will. Even if someday he is, but especially so if not, that truly isn’t fair to either us or any other team that has something like this happen to them.

I have. More than enough. Of course he meant to hit Carson. But he didn’t mean to hit him in the knee like he did, and he didn’t intend to rip his knee to shreds. Which is entirely fair to believe.

You don't know that either...

I’ve played football at the high school level and I played DE. When some players (a lot) play the game, they want to hurt the QB, RB, WR and TE any way possible. This, I would say happens at the college level and Professional levels too. That is the mentality that players have when playing the game.
Watch all of the NFL’s films and see how many players told the QB that he was going to be taken out.
After that being said, at the games end, then you really don’t want to see anybody hurt. Turning on and off the switch….

No of course I don’t know it. But I choose to believe him. If he turns out someday to have been lying, well, then he deserves whatever he gets when the truth comes out.

by FriarBob on Jan 28, 2010 2:41 PM EST up reply actions

Most of the players will not admit to it. If they do, they will get in trouble.

and it’s turning on and off the switch. Very few players will admit it, but those are the ones that are the nastiest, L. Taylor and Romanowski, just to name a couple They were nasty players. They didn’t care either way, who they hurt. Just win at all cost.
Kimo Vanblowme, is one of those players that loved what happened, but acted like he wasn’t to blame. ( I didn’t mean to do it) But there was a bounty on Carson that year, b/c of the rivalry games that were played earlier that year. Visa versa with Worthlessburger.
I hate him, but at the same time it’s a game and the players get payed a lot of cash to play a dirty game, especially when in the playoffs.
Injuries happen….

by WHYUS!! on Jan 28, 2010 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

If there truly was a bounty out on Carson, then they should all have their rings recalled. That’s way over the line.

by FriarBob on Jan 29, 2010 2:43 PM EST up reply actions

I agree, but these things go

on all of the time and players will not admit to it.
The Stoolers played Indy that year and beat them. I watched that game over again that year and watched the Stoolers go after Paytons legs also. He was fidgety and nervous all game, throwing poorly, with the Stoolers around his legs. That is why I can’t stand Shitsburgh, b/c of their CONSTANT dirty play.

Same reason I despise them too. You want to hit the quarterback in the chest, have fun. That’s what the OL is there for, to try to prevent that. If the OL isn’t doing their job well its our team’s fault.

But go for his legs, and especially his knees? Deliberately? What’s the number for Assassins-R-Us again?

"if Carson Palmer had been able to play more than 1 play in that game."

False. The Steelers still would have whupped that ass. Ben and the D were unstoppable during that playoff run. I thought it was great when the bengals thought they finally had their chance after taking the division and getting a home playoff game and then… NOPE you draw the Steelers and get stomped.

There was a big difference between

Carson and happy feet Kitna that year and there is still a big difference between them. When Carson went out, that stole all of the energy out of the team. He was our Leader and take that away unexpectedly and your playing confused.
…..And we get stomped b/c of dirty plays that your team relies on, year in and year out.
But who lost both games last year and we did it cleanly.
Go and troll somewhere else….

I'll post whatever and wherever I want until I get banned

I put up with atrocious trolling from you people this year and I will serve it back hot and spicy now.

In my opinion Kitna was a good replacement for palmer in that game. He played well.

You sound like a cry baby talking about how the Steelers play dirty. They don’t. You even took the division this year due to your team’s solid play and you’re still crying.

Don't tell me about crying

It’s your ass that cried all year long about how well your team has done. That is b/c they decided, for whatever reason, not to play dirty this year. Look what happened to them, they were brought down to a level playing field.
Every team in the league knows that your team plays dirty, there was a poll done on dirtiest players remember… Just ask the players, they know.
As for Kitna, He played well enough for you. Not us. He was off target with his throws as usual. Kitna has a lot of spunk, but isn’t a top notch QB. Just good enough for a backup position. And he failed at that, in that game.
We are not crying about our teams bad/ good season, we are discussing how we can get even better next year. Unlike you crying and trolling to help yourself get over your teams bad play instead of praising their dirty play.
I’m done with your crybaby trolling!

Re: I put up with atrocious trolling from you people this year and I will serve it back hot and spicy now.

This justfication for trolling is always hilarious to me. The people who go on your site and troll are douchebags. The people who come here and troll are also douchebags. By choosing to come here and post stupid shit, thats the category you put yourself in. 99% of us aren’t responsible for the trolling on your site, but you are completely responsible for what you post here, so take some responsibility and quit pretending you’re exacting some kind of revenge.

stomped?

Palmer went out on the Bengals 2nd offensive play, and Chris Henry limped along for a few more plays before leaving as well. The coaching staff looked like their kids just died and they wanted to go home and cry it out. Despite that, the remaining Bengals players fought hard and put up a 10-0 lead, then held the lead until a botched snap FG attempt in the 3rd quarter, followed by a trick play, gave the Steelers their first lead of the day. After that Pittsburgh brilliantly shifted to a defense that blanketed every receiver and kept a couple hitters in the middle in case of runs, then just watched Kitna run around like a deer in the headlights looking for an window to throw the ball into. The longer he ran around in circles the more he broke down mentally. The Bengals coaches did nothing to counteract the new Steeler defensive plan. Meanwhile the Steeler offense used trick plays and was aided by numerous Bengal penalties (properly called or no) to put up 2 more TDs and a FG. It was an opportunistic win over a better team, not a stomping.
